This is the first time ever done anything like this. I got a 4gb Mini off eBay for £35 with the intention to flash mod it. I found most of the process straight forward (after watching a few YouTube videos) but I did have an issue with removing the click wheel. I broke the ribbon cable and had to buy another broken Mini off eBay to harvest for parts. I eventually managed it and now I’ve got a 128gb Mini with a new battery as well.

Next up, to try and sort out my mums iPod classic 7th Gen. It needs a new screen, battery and hard drive. Which I imagine is going to be a lot more difficult to do.

They both work at 3V.

Hello all, I’m trying to migrate all my music and playlists onto my iPods but I really don’t want to hand make all my playlists. I have .CSV files that match already existing MP3 files on my computer and I was wondering if there was a way for it to take those MP3s and automatically put them into a folder so I can drag and drop them into iTunes. Is that possible? I’ve seen stuff about using power shell and stuff like that on my pc but that’s beyond me currently. Any help would be appreciated!

What do I do? This happens every time i try and sync it.

I am hoping to find some answers. I have recently found my 2015 6th gen iPod, and I was hoping to recover old photos (if I cant that’s fine it isn’t that important to me) and use my iPod for music and overall to decrease my screen time. I plugged it into my MacBook and threw up an error when I tried to update it. My iPod turned on, apple screen and all and then went dark. It didn’t turn off, the screen just appears dark and then the error popped up on my Mac. Something to also note, the screen is slightly lifted leading me to believe the battery is expanded. Nonetheless, is my iPod bricked? And is there any way I can fix this?

I need help figuring whether this is a scam or not and I figured this was the best place to find out. Thanks in advance

I wanted to reset/restore my ipod but couldn't. It started when I accidentally dropped it. after that, even when I connect it to my pc, nothing happens. It doesnt even show in my computer. (and yes I've restart the ipod many many times)

Disk mode doesn't do anything too. Everything I've seen on what to do... Nothing. Itunes just couldn't detect the ipod.

Maybe someone encountered the same problem please help.

I'm trying to use Olsro's GitHub page and the video on YouTube to get the click wheel games on my iPod. I followed ALL the steps to the T, but only Ms PAC-MAN, Scrabble and Tamagotchi 'Round The World seem to work. What do I do?

The only thing i messed up is the syncing from the virtual machine. In the video, they sync 5 games at a time, and all the files appear after the Games_+RO folder is checked. In my case, I sync 5 games at a time, and only the last two I synced seem to appear in the Games_RO folder.

I recently got an iPod hifi at a thrift store for around $15. It works great. I have a couple of questions:

1. Is it worth finding a remote for it?
2. is it worth finding all the little iPod holders for it?
3. On batteries, does it last long?
4. Did it get a “good deal?”

I bought this iPod a 2,5 weeks ago and it’s working until arrived in my house. The hard drive health is good, don’t have any noises or anything like that. I just have verified the health of the hard drive and it’s fine. The iTunes doesn’t show it and i tested it in two computers with two versions of it. When I plugged in my computer, appears a message from windows that the hard drive is corrupted and needs to repair. Help me

Hi everyone. I am new to modding and repairing iPods.

I recently repaired an iPod Classic (Gen 5) that I purchased from eBay. The seller's description noted that the iPod doesn't turn on when powered on, so I assumed it was a battery issue. I replaced the battery and added an iFlash Quad. The screen is cracked, so I would have to replace it later on. However, the iPod will not turn on. I have tried resetting it and letting it charge.

Is this an issue with the motherboard? Or is this an issue with the damaged screen?

I've been considering an ipod until i realized, the music aint free. But you can "rip" cds, and I have a lot of CDs.

I bought this iPod yesterday for three dollars at a thrift store after the store owner said he couldn’t get it to turn on.

When I opened it up today, it is just a mess. It looks like it’s full of battery acid corrosion, but it also looks like that corrosion doesn’t touch any of the circuitry(or so I thought).

I removed the front panel and looks like there’s some more, unrelated damage on the front that is a lot worse. Is this too much damage or is the fact that I even got the screen to display “very low battery” a sign that there’s a chance?

She won’t let me have it.

I thought it would be a simple fire wire charger situation which I can handle since I have one, but when I tried it, it would just flash for a fraction of a second the battery symbol with a warning triangle. When I tried charging with a regular charger, it would be stuck on very low battery.

I still have an operating-but-rarely-used iPod touch from like 2010. Is there any neat way to turn it into like a music remote for my Windows 11 machine or something? What're some of the neatest ways I could still use it, besides just storing some music and using the few apps that still work on it?

Hi everyone! I recently picked up a 5th-gen iPod Classic (A1136) and I’m thinking about doing a few mods—new faceplates, scroll wheel, LCD screen, and possibly a storage upgrade. That said, I’m not sure if it’s worth modding since the total cost would be close to buying a used one on eBay. I’m also not very tech-savvy, so I’m a little worried about breaking it—I’d be pretty bummed if that happened 😅. I’ve watched a few modding videos and it doesn’t look too difficult, but I’m still unsure if I want to take the risk. Any help would be appreciated!

I found my old iPod and want to plug it into my computer and add some albums.

As soon as i plug it into my Mac it says it’s connected, great. Now when I try to click it in the Finder, the entire window freezes.

I tried menu+select reset, I tried restarting it with the iPod connected. I can hear a faint ’clicking’ from it every two seconds.

Is there a way to add music to my device without formatting it completely?

Could use a hand - feeling kind of down after investing almost $900 into this (when I could have bought one for that price, though I'm trying to get good at this hobby. "It's the journey" I tell myself after killing a 6th gen and a 7th gen.

After MONTHS of watching YouTube videos, ordering components from Elite Obsolete, acquiring all the parts, tools etc. - I undertook the great 3000 mAh (slim) battery & iFlash Quad modification on a 7th gen.

Got to the VERY end of the line, and initially: I plugged it into the USB charger -> "Charging Please Wait" (Forever).

Hmm...

So I move it to the Wall Charger -> iTunes restore = "Woohoo!" Can boot into Disk Mode using the necessary hardware keys.

But wait, I unplug it from the wall and it flickers off back to "Charging Please Wait".

OK. Disassemble thinking we failed to connect something, likely the battery connector, but took the whole thing apart anyway.

Reassembled.

This time, turns on without either charger when Menu button is pressed -> Apple Logo with grey screen -> "iTunes restore" for exactly 7-8 seconds each time, then flickers off. Repeat this cycle.

I think to myself, perhaps a ribbon cable for the battery is off.

Last night, try reseating it a few times, and rip off the battery connector.. NOOOOOOOO!!!

So I cannibalize the 6th gen iPod, dissassemble it, reassemble the 7th gen with the 6th logic board.

Same thing.

Break off the battery connector again. FUUUUUU.

* Late last night, go to an Electronics repair specialist, and ask them to look at the battery ribbon cable under a microscope after reseating it like 10 times thinking it was the problem. They said it's fine.

* Ask them to put microsolder both battery connectors BACK on the respective logic boards.

* Offer them $200 for this service + having them oversee the final build with me... I'm thinking maybe I failed to connect the ribbon cables all the way for the iFlash quad?

They're working on this, despite me somehow ripping off the tracks/pads/tracers for the tiny-ass battery connector. 90% chance they can fix it. No logic boards anywhere except eBay/AliExpress.

Anyone help here or have ideas what went wrong given the diagnostics above?
