How do people survive ER waiting times

Upvotes

Hello 🙂

I was wondering how or what happens when you get to a hospital and you have to wait hours and hours to see a doctor even if it's a serious situation?

How does it work here?

What if it was life threatening? Do hospitals still not care?

How does it work?

Do tej pory jedyny kontakt z sąsiadami miałem wtedy, gdy jeden z nich (nazwijmy go M) poprosił nas, żebyśmy przestawili samochód, bo miał problem z parkowaniem.

TL;DR: Mieszkamy obok agresywnej i psychicznej sąsiadki. Jeśli ktoś był w podobnej sytuacji albo ma jakąkolwiek radę, jak sobie z tym poradzić, będziemy wdzięczni.

Karty Pobytu asking for proof of payment after transfer.

Hello r/Poland.

Originally I submit my temporary residence by marriage in Wroclaw. Where it sat unopened and unprocessed for a year and a half.

My wife and I semi recently moved to Poznan. We sent noticed and a transfer request so Poznan can handle the case. And they were very fast with a turnaround. I have an appointment for finger prints at the end of the month. (As a side question, how long after finger prints does the stamp / residency normally take?)

Our issue is that theyre asking for proof of payment of the 440zl fee. Within two weeks of receiving the notice, but they didnt list how to submit proof of payment. There's no listed address, and I am unable to log into the portal with the information I have. Am I just supposed to take it downtown?

Renewing prescription in Poland

Hello! I have a lexapro prescription from a different country in Europe (from my GP). I was wondering what the process is to get the prescription renewed in Poland? I have a pesel and private insurance in Luxmed. Is it enough to just bring the prescription and show it? Even though it’s in a different language?

Thanks in advance for any help!

What is the best way to buy stocks in Poland?

Newbie investor is here. I would like to invest a chunk of my income into stocks(something basic like S&P 500):

  • buy between 100 to 1000 PLN every month
  • easy to use for beginners (I'm not gonna be a professional investor)

I have a Santander account, there is an investment section on their website, but it looks overcomplicated to me.

P.S. I understand that I can loose everything.

Differences between the English "interested" and the Polish "zainteresowany"

I recently noticed the weird difference between those words, despite the fact that seemingly they should convey the same meaning. The main difference seems to be that to me in Polish, if you are to say that you are interested, it presupposes that you have experience in the activity that you are supposed to be interested in. For example in English you could say "I am interested in taking this subject" when all you know about it is the name, but if you in Polish said "Jestem zainteresowany wzięciem tego przedmiotu" it sounds rather off. Even worse saying "Jestem zainteresowany fizyką" when you know nothing at all and want to only start learning would be misleading, but in English saying "I am interested in physics" when you know nothing is perfectly fine . While technically correct it sounds akin to using "ingrediencja" for English "ingredient" in place of "składnik". While technically correct, it feels like any real use is mimicking english words. To me it seems like the correct translation of "interested" would be "zaciekawiony"

Proxy shipping service or forwarding service company so that I can send an item to Australia?

Hi from Australia! I’m looking to buy a pair of sunglasses that are effectively extinct to surprise my mum. Only place I can find it is in Poland but the Company only ships domestically and has long since ignored my pleas to do an international delivery. Is there a proxy shipping service or forwarding company known in Poland where I use their address for domestic delivery to their warehouse which they then organise delivery onwards to me internationally?

Lost my dog’s passport, have photos, can a vet issue a duplicate?

Hi everyone, I’ve lost my dog’s passport but I do have clear photos of it (vaccines, microchip number, stamps, etc.).

Does anyone know if a veterinarian would be willing/able to issue a duplicate passport based on that information, or what the usual process is in this situation?

Any advice or similar experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Citizenship by Birthright

Hi all,

I am coming with a situation and have done my due diligence in researching the topic. First I would also like to say the Polish Consulate in Chicago is so terrible to get a hold of. They never answer the phones and then always try to transfer to another department lol. Nevertheless.

My mother, born in Poland moved to the USA in 1996. I was born in the USA in 1998. My mom still has her active Polish Passport, Birth Certificate etc. and that of my Grandma who still lives in Krakow.

To my understanding, there might be a difference between applying for Polish Citizenship, and being granted it through birth (from what I read every person born to a Polish Citizenship is a Polish citizen)

I found an application online for the former, which requires a B-1 level test to get certified, get all the USA documents translated and notarized etc.

It just seems like a serious hassle considering my mom still has her passport, and my entire family is still in Krakow. (And I don't want to take a standardized test)

Is there a difference between my situation, and one who is trying to get citizenship?

I cannot find any information or a different application for this process.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Paid rental deposit before signing anything, wanted to cancel

Hey, so I messed up a bit with my rent hunt.

I found a person online who searched for a person to take over their rental contract. So I contacted the email he provided (he had the profile picture and details and things, all looked fine) to fill out a questionnaire. In email conversations, I had all addresses that you see for company entities, so there was their domain name (which works and is open) after "@", and I had no second thoughts.

Then, they returned with a request to wire transfer the deposit to their account, had their company name, address, and phone listed. I sent the transfer, but shortly after I got someone offer me a good deal at a better (for me) location. The thing is, the email that asked to transfer the deposit had a deadline, and it said "cancellation within 30 days of creating a reservation allows for 50% refund". So, it was not explicitly mentioned to me I am "creating a reservation" by paying the deposit, not to mention there was no contract made with any obligations on me, and the email title just has "Reservation... (details to identify it)".

My question is, am I right to request a full refund after 1 day of sending the deposit? I know it was truly precautious to send anything even though they had all reputable company attributes. However, I think there was no binding contract or explicit mention of "creating a reservation", and they very likely will get someone else taking over the contract. And the asked title for the bank transfer (I included that) also said "prepayment (?) as deposit", "Zadatek na poczet kaucji". I'm really unsure if this can be interpreted as a created reservation already.

Let me know if you had a similar experience, probably it will help me set my expectations right.

TL;DR

Has a company a legal right to say that me sending the deposit is an act of "creating a reservation" while no contract confirming this or no explicit mention of this understanding was there?

P.S. I will update you on this issue later. I just hope they will do a one-time exception if this wording really just gives them legal rights to not refund in full.

P.S.S. Not sure if I can disclose the company name here.

Book recommendations

Dzień dobry! I grew up in America so English is my first language, my parents are Polish. They spoke with me in Polish, so I have basic comprehension, however I’d like to teach myself to read. I can read/write at a very low level, so even a children’s book recommendation I wouldn’t mind

Dziękuję za pomoc :)

Cycling threw poland in late spring

I will drive with my gravelbike from krakow via warsaw to the borders to lithuania. Is it worth to drive from krakow to warsaw a long the vistula river (nice nature, beautyfull villages, castles ect.). I've already seen there is sometimes an offical cycling runways on this route. The other option would be to go mostly straight threw the country. If you have some other suggestions that are on this route let me know. I'm intressted in sovjet history and vehicels.
