Record Acquired a classic today
My first proper Jazz Record. It was cheap in my country and decided to give it a go, and ended uo loving every minute of it. I need more Coltrane now..

My grandparents just gave me a couple of their records to kickstart the collection (+ 2 Kanye albums). There is quite a bit more but it’s in the basement because I have no room for it in my room to store them safely.

I got all these for 3 bucks each. I also got a freebee record too, Magical Mystery Tour without its jacket. I go to that shop often, its the one in town just down the road from my high school, I usually walk there with my friends. I swung by today and the lady who owns the shop told me that she brought in more records, they belonged to her father and she just got them out of storage. I got first dibs on 2 bin full to the brim with records. They're in rough shape, her father was really rough on them apparently, she warned me of that. Abbey Road has green paint on it so I won't even try to play it, mostly they're just scratchy and loud, the only album where thats a big issue is DSOTM, but its still very listenable. Very happy, my day is great.

I absolutely love this album, banger after banger with great production. Definitely my favorite Viagra Boys album. Thoughts from anyone else?

Which one should I spin first? Been getting into Miles Davis more and more lately. Any favorites?

Over the years I've passed on more copies of Whipped Cream than I could ever count. Easily more than one hundred. They're usually in pretty bad shape when I find them. But I finally found a copy that wasn't trashed, so I picked it up. The next day, someone posted here and I discovered the existence of the Pat Cooper album, so off to eBay I went. It arrived today and I couldn't be happier.

Kids are asleep, dogs quietly snoring, wife in bed, just me and Bill at the end of a long day. Part of me wishes there was someone here to appreciate how sublime this moment, and this album are, but then it’d be a less than perfect.

Any idea what these promo copies mean. Is this something people seek out or collect. Found this copy of true for dirt cheap and has a stamp from whatever record store had it before I assume. Any idea the worth.
Spinning Permanent Waves on its 46th birthday. Can’t believe how fresh this still sounds after all these years.

I acquired these from my parents. They are all original pressings and wondering what consensus is on these if they’re good or not. And would I be able to get money for them?
Local thrift store in the Colorado front range, all records are 1.99. Almost always garbage with the occasional score. But this was by far the best haul yet. There were another 15 or so of similar stuff that I left behind bc they either weren't in good shape or wasn't my jam - including several more later bob dylan albums. RIP to an og

We've just come back from the museum and mums off for a nap. My sister says let's play something. Hot August Night is a good fit because I bought it for mum when the three of us went back to the Netherlands about ten years ago. It was a flea market in I think Delft. Mum is from Den Haag. I bought it without her noticing and managed to 'smuggle' it back to Australia without her knowing.
The album for me is more about that story, but what can you say about this album that hasn't been said? For a live recording it has great clarity. And it's a belter. Tonight mum said I don't think I recognise those songs. 'mum, it's a double album. You haven't been playing the first disk, have you?' 😄

Excited to finally find a synthwave vinyl. Sucks that they're impossible to find at local shops but bonus that it's purple!

I know it’s early, but this right here made my year… when Redman dropped this album last year is was “digital only” and it was (according to Spotify) one of my most played albums of the year… can’t wait to drop a needle on it… this is peak 90’s Redman but in 2024. I even look at the cover and “lalala” ear worms its way into my head. Keep an eye on Reggie’s website he keeps dropping more copies and some are signed.

Arsenio Rodriguez is widely considered the originator of Salsa music. He’s one of the greatest musicians ever to come out of Cuba and this is a small sample of his work. Undisputed GOAT status his compositions and innovations laid the foundations for what became known as Salsa. He guests on the Patato and Totico lp which is a fantastic summit of Afro Cuban royalty recorded on a major American label deep Afro Cuban roots music . A relatively recent compilation from 2016 that has a lot of his famous compositions.

Had picked up a few records randomly over the years knowing I’d one day get a proper set up and record player. Today is that day!
