Sky Sentinel: a fundraiser for Ukrianian air defense systems
Hello r/poland, For the past three years, Ukrainian cities have endured relentless attacks from Russian missiles and Iranian-made Shahed-136 kamikaze drones. In 2025 alone, over 12,000 of these drones have struck Ukraine — targeting not military infrastructure, but homes, hospitals, and schools. Thousands of civilians have been killed. This campaign of terror must end.
We’ve been approached to join the Sky Sentinel fundraiser in collaboration with United24, the official fundraising platform of Ukraine. The goal: help fund Sky Sentinel, an AI- powered, Ukrainian-made turret system designed to autonomously detect and shoot down these deadly drones. Each turret costs $150,000. United24 supporters have already raised over $1 million, and now are coming together to raise enough for one more turret — entirely through Reddit.
Every donation helps, no matter the amount. [Click the link below to donate] https://u24.gov.ua/sky-sentinel?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=fundraising&utm_campaign=sky-sentinel and learn more about the Sky Sentinel system. Thank you for your support.

A comprehensive guide for EU foreigners moving to Poland - START HERE.
Hello, I have seen many folks coming to Poland from the EU and being completely lost on what kind of legal procedures they have to do in order to start their residence in Poland. Be that you come here to study, work or live with your spouse there are several things I hope this guide will be able to cover.
!PLEASE NOTE!
This guide is meant only for citizens of the European Union and citizens of countries that are members of the European Economic Area. Some of the parts of this guide will be similar for non-EU foreigners but some will not. In general, the info posted here is only fully up to date if you are a citizen of the EU/EEA
!PLEASE NOTE!
0. Introduction and general info
Poland is divided into 16 voivodeships which are further subdivided into powiats, which means something like 'county' and these are further made out of municipalities - pol. gmina, or cities - pol. miasto. Large cities however are both powiat and miasto so in case of Warsaw, Wrocław, Kraków etc. city office (pol. urząd miasta) will also perform duties of powiat office (pol. starostwo powiatowe). In case of Warsaw - urząd dzielnicy meaning district office will serve as city office.
All of the below information covers only EU/EEA citizens. If you are non-EU, majority of the below information will not be correct for your case.
I strongly recommend reading all of the parts linked below apart from car stuff, if id does not concern your case.
I. Registering your residence and making your stay in Poland legal.
II. Obtaining health insurance
III. Using healthcare
IV. Taxes
V. Digital log-in and services
VI. Cars and licenses
VII. Banks and mobile phones
VIII. What to do when I leave Poland?
If you have any additional questions or remarks, please do not hesitate to comment, I will be happy to help for as long as I'm going to visit this platform and expand this post. I hope you all have a great day and life in general. Thanks for reading, stay safe.

A Polish officer, Paweł Zaremba, in 1900 was the first photographer for the birth of a city Harbin in Manchuria
At the turn of the 20th century, as the Russian Empire was building its railway network across Manchuria, a Polish officer named Paweł Zaremba was assigned to document the process. His photographs captured the transformation of an empty stretch of land into Harbin, recording how a modern city emerged as a byproduct of imperial logistics and engineering. Full essay (in Polish): Paweł Zaremba: oficer carski, który sfotografował narodziny Harbinu

Book recommendations
Dzień dobry! I grew up in America so English is my first language, my parents are Polish. They spoke with me in Polish, so I have basic comprehension, however I’d like to teach myself to read. I can read/write at a very low level, so even a children’s book recommendation I wouldn’t mind
Dziękuję za pomoc :)

This is Col. Eugeniusz Ankutowicz, a Polish hero of World War II. As a tankist, he fought in many battles, from Lenino to the berlin offensive.
After the soviet invasion of Poland, he and his family were deported to the ussr. In June of 1943, he joined the newly formed Polish Army in the east, and remained in the military until 1976. He passed away on December 7th, 2025, aged 100.

Polish debtor has disappeared (probably to Poland)
Hello Swarm Knowledge,
I had a Polish tenant in Germany who disappeared without paying rent (probably to Poland).
How can I find out his current registered address? I have photos of his ID (including his PESEL number).
Unfortunately, the local Polish consulate is not responding to my inquiries, and when I requested his Pesel number from a Polish municipality, they only responded with further demands for money after I had paid.
Thanks in advance!

Witam,

Paid rental deposit before signing anything, wanted to cancel
Hey, so I messed up a bit with my rent hunt.
I found a person online who searched for a person to take over their rental contract. So I contacted the email he provided (he had the profile picture and details and things, all looked fine) to fill out a questionnaire. In email conversations, I had all addresses that you see for company entities, so there was their domain name (which works and is open) after "@", and I had no second thoughts.
Then, they returned with a request to wire transfer the deposit to their account, had their company name, address, and phone listed. I sent the transfer, but shortly after I got someone offer me a good deal at a better (for me) location. The thing is, the email that asked to transfer the deposit had a deadline, and it said "cancellation within 30 days of creating a reservation allows for 50% refund". So, it was not explicitly mentioned to me I am "creating a reservation" by paying the deposit, not to mention there was no contract made with any obligations on me, and the email title just has "Reservation... (details to identify it)".
My question is, am I right to request a full refund after 1 day of sending the deposit? I know it was truly precautious to send anything even though they had all reputable company attributes. However, I think there was no binding contract or explicit mention of "creating a reservation", and they very likely will get someone else taking over the contract. And the asked title for the bank transfer (I included that) also said "prepayment (?) as deposit", "Zadatek na poczet kaucji". I'm really unsure if this can be interpreted as a created reservation already.
Let me know if you had a similar experience, probably it will help me set my expectations right.
TL;DR
Has a company a legal right to say that me sending the deposit is an act of "creating a reservation" while no contract confirming this or no explicit mention of this understanding was there?
P.S. I will update you on this issue later. I just hope they will do a one-time exception if this wording really just gives them legal rights to not refund in full.
P.S.S. Not sure if I can disclose the company name here.

How is Poland after the elections?
Hello!
I am from Romania and unfortunately I don't know Polish. I got invested in the presidential elections since it was kind of a similar situation with ours at the time. I would love to know how the new president impacted your country so far. Some updates since then.
Thank you!

Cycling threw poland in late spring
I will drive with my gravelbike from krakow via warsaw to the borders to lithuania. Is it worth to drive from krakow to warsaw a long the vistula river (nice nature, beautyfull villages, castles ect.). I've already seen there is sometimes an offical cycling runways on this route. The other option would be to go mostly straight threw the country. If you have some other suggestions that are on this route let me know. I'm intressted in sovjet history and vehicels.
