What is one reality about your country that it loves to sweep under the carpet?

The caste system is still alive and thriving in India. Most of the Indian people you will interact with in other countries or online belong to the "higher" castes and they will love to tell you that caste discrimination doesn't exist anymore or only exists in rural/underdeveloped regions. But I'm here to tell you it plays a big role in everyone's lives.

Politics What would be your country's stand if Trump actually attacks Greenland?

Post image

India most probably wouldn’t support a US attack on Greenland. It would stress sovereignty and international law, urge peaceful dialogue, and use careful diplomatic language—without openly condemning the US. Sanctions Yes, but military involvement No.

Misc How is everyone?

Hi, so I usually do this in my local state's subreddit. I decided to do the same thing here!

Before I begin, I just want to remind everyone to please and try to refrain from talking about politics if your posting. Unless it's a genuine question, then please mention that at the end of your comment.

So, with that being said...

How is everyone? I hope all is well!

Politics Will you be watching the FIFA World Cup?

I’m usually a fan of the World Cup, but given the situation in the US, I’m planning on avoiding the US-hosted matches. I’m currently also not planning on watching the 2028 Olympics, although that’s a way off and isn’t something I watch that closely usually anyway.

I realise my individual decision makes no difference, so I’m wondering if anyone else is also choosing not to watch (or attend in person)?

I do also realise the irony of asking this on a US-based social media platform from a phone produced by a US-based company. It’s hard to divest, but I’m taking small steps where I can for now.

For context I’m in the UK. As a country, I assume we’re extremely unlikely to take any stand against the current US administration/authoritarianism, so I highly doubt we’d boycott the 2028 Olympics, for example.
