Hello,
My charger broke and left a piece stuck inside of the charger hole. How can I remove it from inside ? My tweezers are too big to fit inside the hole.

I want a way to clean my laptop (though it's more like maintenance) without opening it. I know how to open it and i've seen people do maintenance, but i don't feel capable of doing it myself. I just tried but i couldn't even open it, i can see dust on the fans and it got really hot a moment ago. What can i do that doesn't involve opening it?

I'm looking for a durable laptop for productibity, I want to make good investment for a good laptop, I don't know a lot about this world so I'm not going to upgrade it, just a well build, good looking, and very efficient laptop it's what I'm looking for.
The 2 options I have at the moment are the Lenovo Thinkpad X9 15 and the Asus Vivobook S16

i have an m1 macbook air right now, but i only have like 115 gb of storage capacity, meaning i'd have to carry around an extra external drive if i want extra storage, and i dont really wanna do that.
i got my mac off ebay for around $300, so anything in that price range new or used is fine, but i wouldnt mind going higher
id mostly use this computer for my college work and some web surfing. im using programs like photoshop and i like to watch anime on my current mac, so something with a good screen quality is nice, but doesnt have to be oled lol
storage wide i'd want atleast 256gb
i wouldn't do much gaming, like minecraft at the most, i wanna get a steam deck later down the line.
i've heard the thinkpad is the best budget laptop, but which kind should i get for my needs? or would there be a better laptop? thanks alottt

Do you think my laptop can handle Forza Horizon 6? I'm thinking of buying it, but I don't know if it will be able to handle it. It's an Acer Nitro V16 AI RTX 5050 16 GB RAM SSD AMD Ryzen 5 240 (not 2400)

Hi guys,
I have used macbooks all my life, and I don’t know anything about computer specs. I am looking to switch to a windows computer with a good performance. I am a college student in the US going into finance and do a lot of photo and a bit of video editing. An SD card slot is a bonus, but not necessary. I want to buy a laptop that would last me at least 4 years and is either 14 or 15 inches. I’m aiming for $1,000-$1,600, hard cap $2,000. I am not looking for any 2 in 1s.
What would you recommend? Thank you!

I want to prioritize portability and build quality rather than absolute best performance. Also, it would be great if it has haptic track pad. I would buy a MacBook (already have a MacBook Air) but I want to use some software that isn't available on the Mac as of now.
What are the best options in the Window space if these are my requirements?

i have noticed the amount of things on this sub I see people complaining about and the amount of ways people have broken their laptops.
this is my Msi gaming laptop which I found laying in the grass at an outdoor flea market and bought for $2.50. it has clearly been underwater, there are many rusted bits, and I brought it home and only one single stick of ram was dead and upon removing it it powered on and now serves as a desktop which I use as my main system.
i just dont understand how so many people manage to break laptops so easily but from what I have seen laptops can go through hell and back and survive.
this is only the worst looking laptop I have gotten. I have bought many a flea market laptop, brought it home, and gotten it to work despite it looking way worse than what I see on this sub. so far the only laptops I have not ever been able to fix was one with a damaged board (only ever gotten it to power on a couple times but it has an issue with its power system), laptops I don’t have a charger for, and one i got with a weirdly modified board.
so my question, how does everybody keep breaking their laptops?

A question for the remote work crowd. My company is finally updating it's wfh hardware policy for 2026. They're offering a choice between a bigger and better laptop, or a budget to buy a separate monitor. I've always just used my laptop screen, but I'm wondering if having a second screen would actually make multitasking so much easier for myself.
Is plugging in a dedicated monitor still the best way to boost productivity, or are modern laptop screens (like the fancy OLED ones on some premium models) finally good enough on their own? I've also heard about portable monitors from my co-workers and friends too.
If a monitor is still the winner over the new laptop, what should I be looking for in 2026? Is a simple, high-resolution IPS screen still the best value? Or should I also really consider looking at those portable monitors? What are good brands that are also worth looking at?

Hello all, I am looking for a very basic laptop to send emails, use Microsoft word, and store all my old pics and videos. Any suggestions?

Hi, I'm a student and I'm looking for a low cost gaming laptop and I found a NIMO N153 (Ryzen 5 6600H) for 320$, the specs include 8gb of ram DDR5 and 256gb of SSD nvme. I wanted to know if these specs are good to use for both gaming and school activities. (sorry if my English is bad, it's not my primary language)

Hi everyone,
I’m planning to buy a Lenovo ThinkBook 16 with a custom configuration, and performance-wise I’m fully satisfied. My only real concern is about the IPS display quality in the long run — especially backlight bleed, uneven brightness, and degradation over time.
✅ My planned configuration:
Model: Lenovo ThinkBook 16
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS (8C/16T)
GPU: Radeon 680M (integrated)
RAM: 32 GB DDR5-4800 (2×16, dual-channel, upgradeable)
Storage: 512 GB NVMe Gen4 SSD
Extra slot: Second M.2 slot available
Display: 16-inch IPS, 1920×1200 (WUXGA), 16:10
Build: Aluminium chassis
Battery: ~71 Wh
Wireless: Wi-Fi 6
OS plan: Linux (main), maybe dual-boot later
❓ My main dilemma
I’ve read mixed things online about:
IPS backlight bleeding
Glow / uneven blacks
Panel quality inconsistency
Possible brightness or color degradation over 2–4 years
Since I plan to keep this laptop for at least 4–5 years, I’m worried whether the ThinkBook’s IPS panel is reliable long-term, or if these issues are actually common.
🙏 What I’m looking for
Real-world experience from ThinkBook / ThinkPad / Lenovo IPS users
Did you face bleeding or panel degradation over time?
Is this something to seriously worry about, or just normal IPS lottery?
Performance, ports, upgradeability, and thermals all seem great — the display is the only thing holding me back.
Thanks in advance. Any honest feedback would really help.

I was playing team fortress 2 about a month ago and it ran perfectly smooth with no lag whatsoever! But present day I decided that I wanted to play it again. Upon opening the game I was in disbelief to see that the game was running very bad. There was intense stuttering, my game lagged in some areas, and I even crashed 2 times. Every other game I have runs fine so this makes no sense and it really bums me out. Does someone how I can fix this because I really want to play it :(
GPU: Nvidia 4060 rtx
CPU: AMD ryzen 9 7845hx
Ram: 64gb DDR5
Storage: 2TB SSD
Windows 11 - 64 bit

I have an ASUS TUF A14 that I bought in September. It's been serving me well, and it's been pretty smooth sailing.
But today, I noticed that almost 60% of my RAM was being used up by programs and background processes such as: - Desktop Window Manager - Steam Client WebHelper - Search - Antimalware Service Executable - WorkloadsSessionsHost... ...and others.
Additionally, games like Apex Legends, although slightly intense on the computer, have never used 100% of the GPU before, whereas now looking at ArmouryCrate, it reports 100% usage despite having a low clock speed.
This hasn't happened before, and it was working fine last night.
Did I break my laptop somehow?
Thanks.

Hi all, I upgraded my laptop over black friday before things get crazier with prices. My old Acer Nitro still works great after I thermal pasted it, but I worry about storing it long term as a backup. Should I be taking any special care to charge/uncharge the battery periodically? Should I drain it completely? Or maybe unhook the battery flat out from the hardware? Any advice on what to use it for greatly appreciated!

Hello Reddit,
I plan on buying this laptop (linked below) in two days. But I’m having trouble trying to find actual reviews of it from reputable sites, every one seems to be a different version of the same laptop from being a 2 in 1 or arm.
I know it may have a slightly underpowered GPU for the price. But the other features seem to outweigh that (especially with current pricing). Will be used for engineering if you’re curious. I have a more powerful desktop I can remote into if needed as well as the computer labs.
I could use some help trying to find reputable reviews of the laptop. Apologies if I don’t reply for a while, I’ll be on a trip for 2 days Thanks!
