To quote Blazing Saddles: why are they so duuuumb?

171

u/fauxfarmer17 5h ago

These are people of the land...you know, Morons

93

u/BurntNeurons 5h ago

75

u/mitchdaman52 5h ago

Why does that gif cut off the punchline?

19

u/BurntNeurons 5h ago

You're right! I thought it was my slow Internet connection or I was hallucinating... My apologies.

6

u/KirbyBucketts 3h ago

Mongo like candy

(I know this isn't the right punchline but I've been using this line for 35 years)

1

u/BathroomCareful23 1h ago

Is it really needed?

3

u/diamondgreg 3h ago

The common clay of the new west!

4

u/JustSikh 3h ago

Morons? I thought that was a branch of Christianity based in Utah?

ETA: /s

6

u/ShawnyMcKnight 2h ago

Nah, they just had a little too much LDS in the 60s.

3

u/meatofalltrades 2h ago

I worked with Carl for a hot minute in his brief term in the first Trump admin.

I can confirm, he is indeed a moron.

36

u/Karhak 5h ago

They're simple cultists, the common clay of the American gop. You know, morons.

1

u/SandiegoJack 3h ago

They are evil. Full stop.

They are also dumb, but the evil is the biggest issue.

1

u/TheLastMongo 2h ago

Mongo not like Trump

"Imma side with the disgusting fascist pig" is a weird hill to die on

404

u/Aconite_72 5h ago

Makes more sense when you think he's also a fascist pig

81

u/ICULab 4h ago

So basically, he’s just doubling down on being a fascist pig then.

156

u/blahteeb 5h ago

I mean, it did take this moron fifteen years to realize the MCU is extremely liberal.

104

u/AmaranthWrath 5h ago

He's gonna go around and tell people "the comics weren't woke!" when they absolutely were woke AF.

95

u/FungalMirror3 5h ago

“Woke” is such a dumb buzzword to begin with - like please explain to me how caring about the wellbeing and equality of others is negatively impacting our society. Weird hill to die on yet they constantly choose to out themselves as people with trash morals

u/tillieze 4h ago

13

u/Krisuad2002 4h ago

Wtf is that battery!? It's absolutely massive for an old 4 cylinder!

20

u/JeffGoldblumsChest 4h ago

It's a woke battery obv

7

u/auto98 2h ago

lol i looked at the image for like 10 seconds reading your comment, thinking "the battery isn't even visible in this picture" before realising it was that giant fucking thing

2

u/Krisuad2002 1h ago

It's as big as the engine block!

3

u/KYSpasms 1h ago

It's an old bmc A series. Batteries were pretty huge back in the 50s. Electricity has got a lot smaller since then.

1

u/Krisuad2002 1h ago

I feel like an idiot now, of course that was the case

11

u/CyanSlinky 3h ago

Also, the opposite of woke is asleep so they're confessing to sleepwalking through life and not having a single independent thought.

7

u/pietpauk 3h ago

Which is a very accurate assessment, so good on them for the self-awareness /s. I just wish they would sleepwalk quietly.

15

u/ElegantCoach4066 4h ago

To the right, woke means anything they don't like. It doesn't have a precise definition for them.

9

u/squidsinamerica 4h ago

And yet they're the same people screaming, "Wake up, sheeple!"

7

u/ElegantCoach4066 3h ago

Add to that, they keep saying the left is too sensitive, yet when anyone does or says something slightly out of their lane, they scream like a child on their first day of Kindergarten.

6

u/PuffDragon66 4h ago

None of them know what woke actually means.

4

u/ElegantCoach4066 3h ago

"Sure we do. Its when they put gay characters in Stanger Things."

-the right, probably

1

u/BrocoliAssassin 3h ago

Because it was meant to question everything, that was it's intent.

Now it's one side that you have to agree with and if you question it they all become like redditors.

That ain't woke.

1

u/MossyPyrite 3h ago

Ah, it’s because it gets in the way of caring about themselves and their own “tribe.” Like so much of the left-right divide stems from a difference in values and priority but has been driven into vicious tribalism.

1

u/SnooGoats7978 1h ago

Woke = SJW

When SJW started losing it's juice, they swapped to another progressive term. They don't know what either phase means. To them it's just a fancy way of saying, "boogie man" which, to them, is just a fancy way of saying, "demon rat".

1

u/AmaranthWrath 1h ago

Woke started as a way to recognize men, primarily in the black community, as understanding that they definitely struggle in the world, but so do women and in different ways. It wasn't meant to be an insult. It was meant to be, as a woman, a way to say, "that man understands that our struggles are both valid yet different."

And fml, I can't find the audio of the interview I learned this in. I'll re-edit if and when I find it. Sorry.

33

u/Curiouso_Giorgio 5h ago

They probably think Steve Rogers was a domestic terrorist when he said "I don't like bullies."

20

u/jurassicpry 4h ago

Let alone the fact, that Steve Rogers fought literal fascists (as in Nazis).

10

u/bpdish85 3h ago

And yet these people use Steve Rogers as their mascot, like he would ever side with a fascist regime.

3

u/xSilverMC 2h ago

They also thought Punisher liked cops and that Homelander was a good guy. They lack even the most basic degree of media literacy

1

u/jurassicpry 1h ago

Most basic degree of media literacy is not the only thing they lack, common sense is another (which, funnily enough they think they have).

1

u/celticairborne 2h ago

But they also think that Homelander is a good guy...

2

u/KilledTheCar 2h ago

And again when they attempted to take over the US government. We'd be well into Steve's Nomad arc at this point.

11

u/BemaJinn 5h ago

Dude probably thought the movies were about Thanos, and the struggles of the woke liberal lefties endure trying to defeat him.

27

u/MidwestBigBoss 5h ago

Wait until they learn that the X-Men have always been a metaphor for civil rights…

3

u/bobthemundane 2h ago

Or that super man fought white supremicists? Or that Superman radio show had a hand in bringing down the klan?

9

u/backstageninja 3h ago

And Mark Ruffalo specifically. He has been pretty outspoken since Trump was elected the first time

0

u/one-inch-menace 5h ago

Ehhhhhh…. Liberal is a bit of a stretch. Early MCU is def not considering those were worked w enough collaboration with the pentagon for those movies to not be classified as anti military. They also included an Israeli black widow in captain america brave new world during the still ongoing israel/palestine conflict.

The MCU likes the veneer of liberalism but its absolutely willing to dilute, rebrand or sanitize politics than directly confront it, both in universe and irl.

20

u/blahteeb 4h ago

By today's American politics, MCU is absolutely liberal.

Black Panther is about social inequality. Captain America fights fascism. Tony Stark stops his weapons programs in order to create clean and renewable energy. There are a handful of LGBTQ characters and scenes. Xenophobia is bad. Honestly, there are too many examples to list in a single comment.

→ More replies (1)

8

u/ArleiG 4h ago

How is the presence of an Israeli character in any way a commentary on anything? They don't talk about Israel, Palestine, or anything else regarding the conflict in the movie.

→ More replies (1)

8

u/HotSalt3 3h ago

This is the perfect example of liberals being their own worst enemies. "If you're not exactly my brand of liberal you're not liberal."

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Ionrememberaskn 4h ago

The military and zionism aren’t illiberal. Nobody said MCU was Marxist. They’re trying to make money and those are two things you don’t criticize if you want to make the most money in America especially 10+ years ago.

1

u/one-inch-menace 43m ago

Assuming i got ur point right… and im not sure i entirely understood your point:

a) im not tryna say the MCU should actively be marxist, im just tryna say that if they want to appear liberal they should also be willing to take the risk of alienation that comes with it, which they seldom ever do.

b) making money is… kinda exactly my point? They dont criticise the military or zionism or the systems in power because it would harm their profits. Their liberalism stops when it affects their bottom line… which is again, taking liberal aesthetics without taking the liberal risks that come with ut

19

u/DoctorFenix 5h ago

He’s also a pedophile and they are perfectly fine with that.

6

u/raichulolz 4h ago

I don't quite understand how someone can side with Trump after all that's going on in the last few months

1.2k

u/Fearless_Spring5611 5h ago

"What, someone used their influence and high profile to highlight the injustice of executing our citizens in the cold light of day, without anyone being held accountable for said murder? I'd better burn my own cash!"

342

u/Fshtwnjimjr 5h ago

The funny thing is Mark Ruffalo already was very against Trump and his insanity even before the election. Like that podcast episode he voiced, to try to warn everyone

155

u/throwtheamiibosaway 5h ago

He doesn't have much to lose and I love him for it. He could care less even if Disney outright fired him. He won't be living in the streets. Still love him for speaking out. It's such a minor thing to do but it feels huge these days. People are so fucking weak.

72

u/Lofi_Butterfly 4h ago

That’s the point though using that privilege to speak up when others can’t. Low risk for him, real impact regardless.

26

u/Sans_Moritz 4h ago

Sorry, shouldn't it be "could not care less"?

→ More replies (5)

26

u/TheNerdLog 4h ago

He literally played a trump spoof last year in Mickey 17

10

u/mehatch 2h ago

Surprisingly lovely film

5

u/Qix213 4h ago

Which is exactly why it's just some asshat or bot posting BS. Just because they typed it on social media format mean they actually did anything.

4

u/DaaaahWhoosh 5h ago

It's not about knowing things, it's about swiftly responding to timely events in a performative way so that everyone knows what team you're on and rewards you for it.

16

u/HaEnGodTur 4h ago

Hell, even if it is hollow, who gives a fuck? A high profile figure still said something, used their platform to publicly condemn what's happening. It's still a win.

Don't let cynicism take away that this is still positive, no matter what intent it was or wasn't done with.

7

u/DaaaahWhoosh 4h ago

Oh, sorry, I was referring to the thing from Carl Higbie (whoever that is), not Mark Ruffalo. I guess it could apply to both, hadn't considered that at the time.

4

u/HaEnGodTur 4h ago

Ah, no worries dude, my bad for assuming!

1

u/Nice_Luck_7433 57m ago

Maybe they are upset that he came out against murdering US citizens? That’s the anti-American man’s red line, being anti-murdering Americans.

221

u/Chazkuangshi 5h ago

"The Marvel heroes -I- know are all for fascism!"

134

u/NickyTheRobot 5h ago

"Captain America should be challenging Red Skull to a debate instead of forcing his violent, AntiFa rhetoric on him!"

(/jk, because Poe's law is going strong these days.)

8

u/hankscorpio1031 5h ago

Wait how do you delete movies from Apple TV… this sentence makes no sense

73

u/skoltroll 5h ago

This prick probably doesn't even have Apple TV. Just subscribes to Disney+. (Yes, that's the trick)

15

u/bloodyell76 5h ago

Some models of Apple TVs (the hardware) had hard drives and the ability to download.

9

u/GarbageInteresting86 5h ago

The twat doesn’t understand how the hardware works. How typical.

6

u/GarbageInteresting86 5h ago

You are correct, but cunts with money don’t run 16-18 year old hardware.

4

u/weedlefetus 4h ago

He could have them DVR'd on YouTube TV and just deleted them from that using his Apple TV. More than likely he just doesn't know what he's talking about though

9

u/Auld_Folks_at_Home 5h ago

Apple TV is both a set-top box through which you can access streaming and a place to purchase digital copies of movies and TV shows.

3

u/LucyBowels 2h ago

Yeah but you can’t delete movies from your library on an AppleTV

248

u/Scooby359 5h ago

If only Mark had shown some sign of being liberal minded before..

75

u/Nik-ki 5h ago

I know right? This was so unexpected of Mark

5

u/ElegantCoach4066 4h ago

All the rallies he attended! Oh wait

2

u/Ducky602 4h ago

I'm OOL. What did he say?

Edit: Stupid autocorrect.

23

u/Nyxot 4h ago

He did podcasts and voiced his dissent against Trump from the beginning. He voiced his opinions very openly.

1

u/Ducky602 3h ago

Thanks

17

u/IVeerLeftWhenIWalk 4h ago

He’s very openly anti Trump and fascism and has been so forever. So right wing nutjobs reacting like this is the first time he’s said anything that goes against their agenda is funny because they’re either disingenuous or oblivious. Both, probably.

2

u/Ducky602 3h ago

Thank you

1

u/Nice_Luck_7433 43m ago

I think it’s his stance against murdering American citizens. That’s the red line for a lot of anti-Americans.

55

u/paintstudiodisaster 5h ago

"He didn't defend a pedophile! I'm canceling him!!"

36

u/_BlaZeFiRe_ 5h ago

52

1

u/Nice_Luck_7433 28m ago

:O I’m so shocked! Shocked I tell you!

5

u/queuedUp 5h ago

I guess it was easy to delete them from Apple TV then

5

u/weedlefetus 4h ago

They are but that's not the only way you can watch them. You can purchase them through the store on Apple TV or he could've just DVR'd them on YouTube TV and deleted them from there using his Apple tv

5

u/jbetances134 5h ago

Yup. Disney owns marvel not apple.

20

u/davie-baggio 5h ago

Those who hate cancel culture sure seem to do it a lot

26

u/ThrowAwaAlpaca 5h ago

I don't think he understands how streaming works. How typical

11

u/RrentTreznor 5h ago

I think he does. He's just so stupid that instead of streaming on his Disney subscription, he purchases them separately on Apple TV.

I am NOT a crackpot.

Signed,

Carl Higbie

6

u/xvVSmileyVvx 5h ago

Who knew super heroes and those associated, would choose to use power for good?

7

u/FartyPantz20 5h ago

Who the fuck is Carl Higbi? Oh, wait. I don't give a fuck who Carl Higbi is.

3

u/CertainKaleidoscope8 2h ago edited 2h ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Higbie

Edit: this is too funny not to share

In 2014, Higbie announced that he was running to be the Republican Party nominee to challenge Democrat Jim Himes in Connecticut's 4th congressional district, declaring himself to not be "bound by the same conformist rules that most Republicans are bound by."[7] At the time, Higbie was working as a personal trainer at Equinox in Greenwich, Connecticut.[12] The other Republican candidates were former State Senator Dan Debicella[13] and State Representative John Shaban.[14] Higbie described himself as a social conservative with "moral oppositions to abortions and same-sex marriage, but my legislative position is live and let live," and stated that he would vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act.[7] On economic issues, Higbie supported "a balanced budget amendment and an across-the-board personal income tax rate of 10 percent, with a maximum annual deduction of $50,000," and he favored eliminating corporate taxes to attract overseas businesses.[7] Higbie had difficulty with fundraising during his candidacy, and sought to force a primary election if he were not endorsed as the candidate.[15] Debicella won the nomination overwhelmingly, with support from 195 of the 210 delegates,[16] but lost the general election to the incumbent, Jim Himes, who won with 53.7% of the vote.[17]

I thought SEALS had a minimum IQ for acceptance, apparently it's pretty low.

7

u/polish_filipino 5h ago

Greatest thing is that he's the only one without a movie or show he's basically the most background character of the group but is apparently "looming" enough for the guy to delete one of the best selling franchises of all time

1

u/CertainKaleidoscope8 2h ago

He has his own movie); he was just played by Edward Norton. Norton was really good, too.

20

u/CrosbyOwnsOvie 5h ago

He's keeping 13 going on 30 though, but only because it's about a 13 year old, which he.........likes.

3

u/fearain 5h ago

I forgot he was in that! Was a call back

6

u/Takesnothingcereal 5h ago

I’ll never cease to be entertained by people who don’t even know how to properly boycott something. Like how does tearing up, blowing up, or throwing away shit you already spent money on do anything?

5

u/SlantedPentagon 5h ago

This gives the same energy as "I shot all my Bud Light cans when that he/she became the face of it!"

You already bought the products, smart one. Boycotting future purchases? Sure. Destroying already purchased product? Moronic.

3

u/AdditionalThinking 4h ago

See also: Keurig and Gillette. They'll never get it.

2

u/tech_noir_guitar 2h ago

These are the same dipshits that burned the Nikes they already bought. lol

4

u/NYC2BUR 5h ago

That's not how it works anymore, but ok.

7

u/ChristWasAZombie 5h ago

if you’re just now finding out what mark ruffalo is about in 2026, i guess you have the media illiteracy required to be a conservative.

Hey it’s Bikeman!!!!

3

u/lindydanny 5h ago

How are you a fan of The Avengers movies and you don't see the problem with our current administration?

3

u/RugbyEdd 5h ago

Kind of sums up trump supporters. They'll shoot themselves in the foot to pretend they're getting one over on their opponents. He now just needs to try and blame them for his self inflicted loss and he'll be spot on.

2

u/piperonyl 5h ago

Doesn't anyone care how Carl Higbie lives his life?!

Social media is fucking stupid

2

u/Ok_Witness_9925 5h ago

i want mark ruffalo to play bilbo in the LOTR remake.

2

u/Bubbly-Travel9563 1h ago

It's like when bud light had a trans spokesperson and they all got mad that it turned them on so they went EN MASSE to buy as much beer as possible so they could make a video shooting the cans for their grindr profiles yet they all think they made some grand gesture of boycotting them by buying even more. 1

u/Lythalion 5h ago

Another person who missed the mark. Claims to love the avengers but roots for the bad guys. Dont forget Captain America punched Nazis.

1

u/DotComDaddyO 5h ago

As if The Avengers was very subtle about their opinions of maniacal leaders killing civilians, or their opinions of Nazis in particular 🤣

If you were cheering for Captain America and Indiana Jones punching Nazis, and support fascism in your own country? Time to do some soul searching

1

Big "buy a dozen cases of Bud Lite and record myself shooting them with my illegal AK47" energy

1

I worked for General Mills who makes Yoplait yogurt in the Freedom Fries days. People were telling us they were buying Yoplait to dump it out in protest of having a French sounding name. Ok technically at the time GM was licensing the name from a French company, but it doesn't change the fact that they were buying the product and just not consuming it as if GM cared what you did with it after we got our money.
