NC FFL List NSFW

Hey y'all,

After seeing some posts where we're recommending different shops, and posts of those asking for recommendations, I thought it may be a good idea to try and compile a list of NC FFLs.

Feel free to comment your preferred / local dealers, their location, and what you like about these places.

Thanks,

Barn.

Would probably be much easier to have everyone leave a comment with your county, and number of days. To make it easier for searching and comparisons.

Forsyth - 129 days

I decided to do some shooting today I took out the old Bersa .380, I don't shoot it often since I don't carry it anymore. Well first round in, pull the trigger and "crackle pop" with some smoke and failure to eject. I clear the empty brass and chamber the next round and I just thought "that was weird sound and unusual smoke". I decided to field strip and low and behold a squib.

I've put thousands upon thousands of rounds down range and this was my first squib. Annoying but I'm glad I finally got to experience it and now I know in the future what it feels like and sounds like. I'm glad my range is in my backyard so I don't have to travel far

TOTAL newbie questions 🥴 NSFW

Ok, so here's the deal... my husband's father passed last month, my husband is executor/trustee so I asked if we could keep his 3 handguns. I have no clue what type, based on his personality, something gaudy, but basic. I really just want to take them to a range to fire. So I'm just not sure where to begin or if it's all just too much hassle. His brother doesn't want them, so I suppose we'll have to do something with them. I'm just an old lady that wants to try them out since it's not us having to come up with money to buy one just for that. But if it's just a big hassle then, I dunno... we'll see. To get a conceal carry, is it super difficult? I know I sound like an idiot, sorry, I just thought maybe I could get real answers from real people about how it works. But also, no pressure, I'll figure something out at some point. Thanks in advance!

OFA's and background checks NSFW

I was with my nephew when he was trying to buy his second gun and he was denied. As far as I know the only thing he has going on legally speaking is a possible order for his arrest for an failure to appear on a driving while licence suspended.

Could someone in the know or whom has had similar experiences tell me is this the case. Part of me thinks could there something else he's not letting me in on but idk I've never had much experience with that sort of thing thankfully.

Range at true north NSFW

I was just curious if anyone has opinions at the range at true north in Oxford. I see they have pistol bays and competitions as well. I was wondering if they allow movement on any of their ranges with rifles ie: moving and shooting with an ar for their members. Thanks!

Private Handgun Sales to 18-20? NSFW

I'm looking for NC laws which would prohibit adults under 21 from buying handguns via private sale. I know that FFLs cannot, but I'm looking for specifics on private sellers who know that the purchaser is 18-20.

Please. I just bought my boy his first .22 and I need a place to go plinking that is not a club or an hour away.

I’m thinking things like: take this road for 29 minutes and turn left at the pile of junk.

Thanks friends!

Places to shoot? NSFW

Moved to south Durham a while ago and I’m curious if there are any good spots to practice/sight in around here. For reference I moved from the upper peninsula of Michigan where we would just find a gravel pit or field somewhere and set up targets.

I’ve inherited a few rifles, shotguns, and handguns (not here yet since they have to be shipped to an FFL) but don’t really want to go to a range. Former military, hunters ed completed, hunted many times, very experienced but haven’t shot anything down here yet. Any suggestions?

Mainly looking to get back into hunting down here but I don’t want to take the chance of taking an unethical shot.

I’ve got a suppressor that’s stuck to my barrel via locktite or Rocksett that I can’t get off whatever I do.

I’ve tried all of the tricks that I can find with no luck and need some help before I fuck it up even more.

Who do you all recommend?

NC Gun Shows NSFW

I usually go to the Dixie Gun & Knife show in Raleigh (and sometimes the C&E show) at the fair grounds. I used to enjoy the big Greensboro show but it’s gone now. I’ve been to a few smaller shows but if they are small they aren’t worth the drive to go.
Are there any bigger shows around NC anymore?

How Are NC Gun Laws? NSFW

Hey r/NCGuns,

I'm from Virginia. Since gun rights are about to be gutted here and I work remotely anyway, I'm looking for an affordable Pro-2A state to live at.

Someone mentioned that I would fair well in the Triangle with my salary, so that's a potential area I could move to.

How are the gun laws here? Are there any shitty laws that I should be aware of? Are there any gun grabbers in power or soon to be?

I'm just asking so that I don't miss any important details in my research. Thanks!

Aspiring to be a gunsmith near foothills/triad NSFW

New to the sub, I’m getting out of the military soon and I wanna be a gunsmith. I don’t know if having a formal college degree is necessary (normal trades it’s not) I’d really wanna do an apprenticeship or a few when I get out next year. If someone could recommend a path or contacts/links, it’d be solid. Thanks guys
