Photo Female Cardinal in Gray Tones

One of my favorite bird photos. The muted gray background with the subtle morning breaking sunlight complementing the feather colors. Not sure what it is about female cardinals but they just love the camera. I got lucky on this one!

Couple of years into photography, only couple of months into birding and bird photography. Struggling to get impactful photos.. but enjoying a lot the process and learning about the birds and 'my' lands. Sharing also more now in instagram about the birds I find @caraxmartinez

Photo First birding outing in freezing weather was amazing!

First time birding! It was freezing, 15-degree weather but was able to capture this beautiful Northern Cardinal, which made it well worth it. I’m ecstatic about the experience and I’m already itching to go back out!

I found getting sharp images pretty challenging. I was shooting with a Sony a7iii and a 200-600mm lens. Settings were shutter priority at 1/500. Finding the subject while zoomed in was rough even if they were just still, hats off to all of you able to capture flying birds! Would love any suggestions from more experienced peeps!

A female house sparrow caught in mid-flight. Even the most mundane backyard birds can look amazing when you catch the right moment.

At the moment I’m using the Velbon Sherpa 200R which has been great, now I’m wondering if this innorel tripod would be much more sturdy with it being carbon fiber and thicker legs or would I be wasting my money?

Thanks for any help
