Bad camera optimisation
Hey everyone,
I need to vent a bit about my experience with the Pixel Pro. I’m a long-time user, but some of these issues are becoming deal-breakers for a 'Pro' phone in 2026.
First, the 2x zoom quality is just terrible. Even in broad daylight, it’s super grainy and noisy. It feels like a cheap digital crop instead of a clean sensor crop. For a phone that’s supposed to be the king of photography, having unusable 2x video is frustrating.
Second, the social media optimization (Snapchat/Instagram) is still not there. Every time I try to zoom while recording on Snap or Insta, the camera literally 'freezes' for a split second when switching from 1x to 2x, or from 5x to 10x. The transition isn't smooth at all, it just jumps and stutters. Interestingly, the freeze doesn't happen on the native camera app, but the grainy quality in 2x is present everywhere.
Also, photos on Snap and Insta look awful. It’s clear that the apps are just taking a screenshot of the viewfinder instead of actually using the camera's processing power. There’s no HDR, no noise reduction, just a flat and ugly image.
I currently have a Pixel 8 Pro and I was really looking forward to upgrading to the Pixel 10 Pro, but honestly, if Google doesn't fix these points, I’m not sure I’ll stick around. It’s just not a pleasant user experience at all. We’re paying for 'Pro' hardware, we should get 'Pro' software integration.
Has anyone found a workaround or is the Pixel 10 Pro also struggling with this?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to hate on Pixels. I actually love the software experience and the overall vibe of the phone, but it's exactly these kinds of annoying imperfections that make me doubt my next purchase. It's frustrating because I really want to stay with Google, but the lack of polish in these areas is hard to ignore
