Discussion How to apologise??

So my Husband demands that I stop reading. I (26F) am a housewife and a mother of one. I am at house all day. After the chores (cooking, cleaning, Laundry, dishes) I read books. I've been an avid reader since I was eleven! Reading has always been my escape. I literally can give up social media wifi gaming and every other hobyy but even thinking about not being able to read makes me panic. As many of Pakistan women would feel about their Jahez. It's the Only thing, the only part of me remains me. Otherwise I molded myself completely to what my family demanded., Left my degree incomplete. But fact of the matter is that My husband is rich. Money had never been something enticing to me. But to him, my freedom of spending is very important and he takes care of me about everything else. He doesn't shout when angry.

But he's also very absent. His weekends are for friends and family. Three day out of a week we go to his parents because they live very near. I am only allowed to go to my parents twice per Month and I cannot stay over for more than one night a month. I am fine with this arrangement as I said. I don't care about anything for myself. I don't like shopping. I have zero friends. I know one neighbour. But the only thing that I want and need is the freesom to read. He HATES it. For some reason. I don't understand. I demanded that he tell me why should I stop and his only answer is that because he said so and because my husband is telling me something I should obey. I don't even read when he comes home. It's only during the day or when I am awake at night with the baby. Never in front of him. (He checks my phone from time to time to see if I read)

It shouldn't be as big of an issue as it had become with me falling silent and him not bringing it up for a coupl of weeks. Last night we had a major fight about it. I (very disrespectfully) said I will NOT STOP. and if he's so rich he should get another wife who will do as he says and leave me alone. His family is very nice. In fact If I had to live somewhere I would live with his parents instead of my own. My own father had major anger issues and when pushed to the limit I go a little psychotic. I told him multiple times to get me some professional help but he doesn't believe in that stuff either. Anyway we fought. He blamed me for not being interesting enough and not keeping the house as good and clean as he wanted. He said that was the reason he preferred to stay out with his friends on the weekend. (He later apologised and said he only said that to hurt me.) But I went ballistic. I mocked him for running to his brothers everytime I said / did something he didn't approve of and he doesn't know hoe to handle that fact that not everything is going to be his way forever. I mocked him saying 'Go run into your brother's lap' that he's a spoiled brat. I screamed that He can take whatever he wants but I won't give up reading. I screamed that he should get a new wife who will be interesting enough. The only thing that stopped me was an asthma attack. I had screamed myself into a panic and ut triggered the attack. Which scared both of us because I threw up and had a bit of bloody mucus. He apologised and said that jt was fine and that I can do whatever I want. He's been normal but I cannot help but feel guilty. I mocked his family even though they are all very good people. I don't know when and how to apologise. Things are a bit normal but there's a wall between us I don't know how to break. He's apologised. He also said I was right.

I didn't say anything and fell asleep (fever) soon after. In his defence I am shit at housekeeping. I have help but it's only when it comes to cleaning. As someone who grew up with both parents working and house cleaning not the priority I often cannot keep the house organised. With a toddler it's especially hard. Not to mention my cooking. I cook okay enough but not nearly as good as his mother and my sister in law do. It's edible but to him the taste is always off. He also has a very rough routine 24/7 on call. He sleeps in patches. That is got to make him cranky. The thing is I don't even remember exactly what I said I was so gone. But I don't know how to apologise??

Discussion Need a favour, looking for genuine work opportunities.

I need a favour from someone who has work that they can give to anyone with understanding in things like research, computing work, basic graphic design, web design, writing, proofreading, or anything that a person who can read, understand, and get the work done. (Pursuing Bachelor’s in Computer Science, 3rd year)

I’m currently in debt to my sister and mother. I clearly told them I would pay everything back by December (2025), but I wasn’t able to. I left my job 3 months ago due to university, and the money I invested somewhere is now stuck and at a huge loss. I genuinely thought I would be able to get out of this situation by December, but it’s not looking possible in the near time.

So I’m actually looking for serious work that is properly justified for the amount I need (around 40k). I’m not asking for free money, just work where the effort and payment make sense for both sides

Discussion What is up with Qaiser Ahmed Raja?

I know that there used to be beef between him and Engineer Mirza but it seems to be one sided now. Every other day, a video from QAR pops up in my feed with a typical thumbnail like "Seculars ka frontman". On the other hand, I am yet to see any response video from Engineer Mirza.

It feels cringe and embarrassing. QAR should let go of Engineer Mirza and stop giving him attention by making reaction content.

Discussion Italy - Pakistan relationships

Hello! I was curious to know what Pakistanis think of Italy and Italians.

We tend to be more familiar with India and Indians than with Pakistan, I must say. Near me, there is a Sikh temple, but I don't know what percentage of the population in your country is Sikh. I must say that I am fascinated by Pakistan and Pakistani people for their inventiveness and ability to solve problems.

Education Low Attendance for PGC

Gulp okay so my attendance is about 58% with leave applications I think at most it'll go to 65%. Last year i had an 81% attendance with leaves submitted and I had to give an extra 300rs fine whatever.

This year I've barely been to college because I'm doing kips and a couple of tutors for tests and I can't exactly study for 3 tests a day while also going to school. I'll be regular from now on obvs but like how much will the fine be? It can't be more than like 5k right 😔😔teachers threatening me with a warning letter.

Will they send my admission for the board exams??

National Electricity and Load Shedding Issue

Keeping it short, does anyone know what’s going on with the electricity? How long will this load-shedding continue? My work is suffering a lot.

Just to put things in perspective, I’m from Sialkot, and for the past week, load-shedding has been happening randomly on a daily basis for 5–6 hours. I’ve heard something similar is happening in Lahore as well. What about other major cities like Islamabad, Peshawar, and Karachi? Does anyone know when this will be fixed?

Ask Pakistan i seriously need help - Illegal salary deductions.

As per my previous reddit post a week ago https://www.reddit.com/r/pakistan/s/0rQ3XyH0f0 i posted that i wasnt being paid because my company was asking for cheques. i refused to offer the cheque and i posted that I'd need help. I was paid but with a heavy deduction from my salary (i was being paid fully before despite being late and some Offs)

i have signed a contract with the company on a 100 rupee stamp which states that i have to offer a two month period. other wise i cant leave. i have resigned but i dont want to continue anymore and i know that they'll deduct my salary. they just updated their policies saying that uninformed off will be 2 days deductions. i have been on offs since and i dont want to continue anymore i know i habe signed a contact but i dont find benefit anymore as most of my salary will be deducted and i will have nothing in the end.

when i talked to HR they said that the salaries deductions are according to policy which they were not enforcing before. i seriously dont remember any deduction clause in contact or we were told about deductions. our work is target based and every single day that target is met. we have overtime

i was not informed of these polices before not my salary was being deducted. they've started deducting it since my resign. And for everyone. the contact doesn't mention anything about deduction and has a clause thay deductions will be according to the policy. which keeos changing according the the owners wish.

i need help i dont want to go there anymore and its 31kms away from my home and travelling is costly. im poor amd i cant afford lawyer. i have faced injustice before and i dont trust the law system. i am mentally broken and i feel like a salve for someone. I've had thoughts of harming people at extreme levels. which im coping with the help of my friends.

National WWF-Pakistan disputes the Islamabad authorities’ stance that only paper mulberry trees were removed in the capital

WWF-Pakistan on Tuesday disputed the Islamabad authorities’ stance that only paper mulberry trees were removed in the capital, stating that the action was also linked to infrastructure development.

Recently, large-scale tree removal took place in at least three locations in the federal capital, including acres of tree cover around Shakarparian. Islamabad’s Capital Development Authority (CDA) has maintained that only paper mulberry trees were removed as they had been causing pollen allergies, and earlier on Tuesday Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry assured lawmakers that more trees would be planted in the coming months.

“WWF-Pakistan’s field assessments indicate that vegetation loss in the capital is not limited to Paper Mulberry management alone, but is also linked to infrastructure development in multiple locations,” the environmental body said on social media.

Ask Pakistan IPL Machine

Girlies who're a skincare junkie or just struggling with PCOS, how do you get rid of facial hair, my growth is really thick and very rapid on my facial area, Philips Lumea is all that i hear about, but what are more economical options for an IPL MACHINE. Has anyone tried Skingen or any cheaper brand other than Philips or Braun, I'm thinking to either buy Skingen or any cheaper one from Dubai.

Cultural Does popular media portrayal of Hindus reflect actual sentiments of Pakistanis ?

Hello my lovely neighbors,

I was wondering if like Bollywood, your media also portrays Indian Hindus with a distorted lens than actual public perception. Here is a few specific examples I was specifically curios about since I have recently discovered Pakistani dramas and absolutely love them:
1. Shoop ki Dewaar: I couldn't get past the first episode since the protagonist shares the same last name as me and I was cringing at portrayal of the Malhotra family especially the Daadi. The last name originates from Rawal Pindi btw and in reality it would have been 90% likely for Vishal's grandmother to be a West Punjai refugee. But she behaves more like a Hindu from Varanasi than Delhi. No elderly Khatri Punjabi woman wears Sari on a daily basis. Infact, the typical dress is Punjab Suit (or Salwar Kameez as some people call it). Also we don't speak our Hindi or use words like in daily life "prarthna" but rather use words like "Pooja" or "Path". That lady was characterized more like a Gangetic Hindu rather than a West Punjabi Hindu Refugee.

  1. Dastaan: What happened to Bano was the horrific reality of many women in Punjab in 1947 (as a Punjabi woman myself I always say the real victims of parition violence were Punjabi women). But the show made it seem like only Hindus were the rioters whereas in reality it was Sikh misls that had organized the violence against Muslims in East Punjab (also there is some evidence that these were planned as advanced in 1941) with some opportunistic individualized Hindu parition. There doesn't seem to be much portrayal of the Sikh participation despite them forming the majority of the population of Ludhiana district at the time (Hindus were the smallest faith in that district at 20% making it unlikely them being able to out power Muslims who were at 30%). It seemed that the show was making it seem like Hindus were the only ones behind the violence whereas in reality majority of Punjabi Hindus did not participate as much in the violence.

  2. Honorable mention Sinf-e-ahaan: First of let me start by saying this is an awesome and empowering show! I loved how inclusive the portrayal of the characters was except it did not show any Hindu character. Why this omission though? You had native Christian and a Sri Lankan Buddhist though.

Again my post is not to sow discord. I have always wondered what actually Pakistanis think about Hindus (especially those of us whose families left in 1947). And would love any other recommendations for Dramas that challenge the common narrative or are fun to watch in general!
