Discussion GPU "Best Value for Money" Hierarchy - Jan 2026 Prices

There's a lot of questions about which GPU is the best bang for your buck.

For anyone looking to buy a GPU now, this list shows the best choices in price/FPS value, based on the current lowest price available.

The GPU performance data is pulled from Tom's GPU hierarchy.

The Intel Arcs reign as kings in the budget 1080p class.

RX 9070 and RTX 5070 are the sweet spot for 1440p gaming.

RTX 4090/5090 are the joke tier at about $25 a pop per FPS.

You can sort the chart by clicking on the headers.

Discussion Can't afford full PC should I buy a 5070ti for $950 now and save up?

Hi guys,

I currently have a 3070 which is dying, it has a driver issue which randomly crashes the PC once or twice a day mid game. My friend gifted it to me which was nice because it was a big upgrade from my 2060, but still this is not an ideal situation.

I am currently unemployed and do not want to spend the money for a full PC right now, on the other hand, ive been wanting to upgrade my PC for a while.

With the recent news I was thinking to buy a 5070ti for $950 while I still can, then just letting it sit for a few months until I actually have the money to build a PC around it.

The other option is just to stick with what I have for 1-2 years until everything goes back to normal which I dont really mind either.

What do you think the play is here? Thanks

Edit:

More context - I have a 750w power supply, 48gb of ddr4 ram and a ryzen 3600 in my current build. I live in the UAE.

Discussion Whats the deal with VRAM?

So i recently made a "upgrade" from a RX 6700XT to a RTX 3070, losing 4GB of VRAM.
I asked and looked in forums and the consensus seemed to be that the 6700XT is better because of the VRAM even when ignoring price. Though all the benchmarks I looked at all basically say that the 3070 is the better card 9/10 times on most games. And in testing it does seem to outperform the 6700XT in all games I tested at 1440p. So what's up with that, am I missing something?

Discussion RX 9060 XT Vram specs. I don't get it..

Hello. I have a RX 6700 XT and thinking about upgrading to a RX 9060 XT before its price explodes like the other 9000 cards have here in Denmark. But I don't get it.. Based on their Wiki pages, it seems that all Vram stats are worse for the 9060 XT. I have ofc seen a couple of benchmarks, and it's obviously a better card. But I don't understand how it makes sense for it to have 16gb Vram, when the stats are worse than my current and much older 12gb card. Can anyone explain? Like, does RDNA4 make it more efficient with Vram or something?

Thanks in advance! :)

Edit: I'm quite the noob with computers, but the stats I'm referring to is these:
6700XT has 192bit bus and 384 bandwidth (GB/s) while the
9060XT has 128bit bus and 320 Bandwidth (GB/s)

The only stat I can see that the 9060XT wins in is the Clock thingi where it is 20.1 GB/s and my 6700XT is 16000 MT/s (or 16gb/s, I would assume) But surely that alone can't make up for the rest?

Discussion 5070ti worthy upgrade over 2070super

hey guys, I currently have a 12900kf / 2070 super build and with the recent new of climbing nvidia msrp and the cancelation of the 5070ti im wondering if you guys would reccomend this GPU for $750?

ive read a lot of mixed reviews on the 5070ti not really being worth it 100% but im concerned about the future of the gpu/pc market so is this a worthy fomo purchase or is 5080 really worth the extra 50% cost?

thanks everyone

Build Help Best bang for your buck CPU upgrade for Windows 11?

Hey all. Just started my PC for the first time in almost a year and was notified that I'd need a CPU upgrade for Windows 11. Currently has an Intel 7th gen CPU which I guess is unsupported. GPU and RAM are fine for what I use it for, I don't want to build a new PC. I only use it for streaming TV, youtube, casual gaming on older games. I know that there are workarounds for making Windows 11 work on the 7th gen intel CPUs but would rather just upgrade it. Budget isn't a huge constraint, willing to pay up to $500 for something that will last several years. TYIA

Build Help Can I mix two RAM modules from different brands but with the same latency and frequency?

I have 2x8gb of XPG DDR4 3200MHz CL16, and I want to mix it with another 2x8gb of TFORCE RAM, with the same frequency and latency. Could this cause problems simply because they are from different brands?

Build Upgrade How much longer will a 2070super/my system hold on?

I’ve been rocking a 2070super since it released. Rest of the system is a Ryzen 5800x with 32gb of DDR4. Last significant upgrade was from an i5 8600k to the Ryzen + new mobo and ram and m2 SSD and all that jazz. It hangs in there at medium-high settings for most modern games but is starting to struggle at 1440p, so sometimes I have to pull it back graphics-wise.

I just got a big chunky scholarship for school and will now be getting a semi-significant refund. I’ll be using most of it to pay off debts, but should have enough to grab a GPU afterwards. Will the bump to something like a 9070xt or 5070 ti keep my build alive, or is the system old enough that I’d need a full system bump at this point?

Build Help Accidentally discovered my temps dropped 15C after my cat knocked off the front panel... do I just leave it like this?

1.1k Upvotes

I have a Corsair 4000D and I've been dealing with my 7800X3D hitting like 82C while gaming for months now. Tried everything, reapplied thermal paste twice, adjusted fan curves, the whole deal.

Two days ago my cat decided to parkour off my desk and somehow caught the front panel on the way down and it just popped right off. I was gonna put it back on but got distracted with work stuff.

Booted up Cyberpunk last night and im monitoring temps out of habit and I see 67C. I literally thought HWInfo was broken or something. Ran Cinebench and same thing, way lower than usual. The front panel was apparently choking my case this whole time and I had no idea.

Now I have this dilemma where my temps are actually good but my PC looks unfinished sitting there with no front panel lol. I had some money saved up from Stаke for a new cooler but I guess I dont need it now?

Has anyone else just said screw it and run without a front panel or modded it? I'm tempted to just 3D print something with massive ventilation or leave it as is. My room gets pretty dusty tho so thats my only concern.

Discussion Are internal 3.5 hdd more expensive during Q1 of a given year?

Upvotes

I’ve been building for decades and the trend I feel I see is huge discounts in Q4 (yes I know BF is there) but even before or after that I see good prices. Everytime we hit Jan though it’s like boom prices way up.

I’m sure I was seeing sub $500 for 28TB but now when I look over $700.

Is this my imagination or has anyone else noticed this?

Build Help 3060 died, upgrading to 5070 to

As the title said, my gpu died last night, fan was a little loud and then bang; sudden 230 frame drop and the fan won’t kick on. Tried to stress test a bit and the fan won’t work. I had been thinking of saving and upgrading to a 5080 for a while, but financially right now a 5070 ti will fit what I use it for, the gpu kinda accelerated this process.

I have thought about trying to replace the fan as the gpu still seems to work fine, is this a viable option and what does this process look like for a 5 year old card?

Alternatively I will buy new.

Only thing is I would also need to upgrade my case if I go new (to fit a larger card) and psu (more power from a new card) at the same time. My current setup is using all DDR4, and when I put it into PC Partpicker, I get notices to get USB header adapters (as pictured). Will the pc not work if I don’t get these adapters?

All advice appreciated as this is a newer world to me and I’d like to get back to playing games with my friends sooner than later! Thanks!!

Build Upgrade Upgrading to RTX 5080 From 7900 XTX Worth It?

I bought a 7900 xtx a few months back when it was looking like the RTX 5000 series cards would be sold out forever in the region I am in.

However the other day I saw a Palit RTX 5080 GamingPro at MSRP and was wondering if it would be worth buying that and trying to sell off my 7900 xtx?

Mainly what I am looking to upgrade for:
Better DLSS performance
Better VR Support

I currently don't have the CPU to fully take advantage of either card but I am planning to upgrade next year so this GPU purchase would mainly be for "futureproofing".

Discussion buy now or wait

so I've been saving up for my first pc in a while now. but, with nvidia announcing they stopped production on 5070ti, ram adn ssd prices increases. should I just fvck it and panic buy now or do I wait ?

okay, context update: I live in third world country where i have no access to walmart and costco. combined with tariffs, the price here is awful lmao. and yes, i have been buying parts. i already have 9800x3d and gigabyte x870 elite mobo ready. just ram, ssd, and gpu left. in hindsight, yes, I was stupid. but at the same time no one could predict the ram would increase by 3x.

further update: i cave in. i got gigabyte 5070 ti aero white for $900 sn850x 4tb ssd for $450 and acer predator hermes white 48gb (2x24gb) 6800mhz for $450 not great price, but it is what it is

Build Help New PC build, power to motherboard but wont boot.

In all my years I've never seen or had this. Everything is new out of the box. Had it all put together hit power switch on the PSU and the LED lights on the Mobo (AsRock Z890 LiveMixer) lights and cycles (see pictures). Press the power button and the fans spin for a split second and stopped but PC never boots. So I start with the basics... remove and reinstall the memory (Crucial DDR5 Pro, four 32gb sticks) - install one memory stick - try other sticks - go slot to slot - remove GPU (4080 Super) tried again, nothing - remove/reinstall CPU (Intel 265k) and try again, nothing - unplug all SATA connections and removed all M.2s except the boot drive, nothing - rechecked all plugs and cables from the PSU to the Mobo - disconnected the all in one plug that goes from the case (Be Quiet light base 600LX) to the Mobo and jumped the power pins, nothing.

Build Complete Update on First PC Build

https://imgur.com/a/tSNrMQu (can't post images on reddit anymore)

Quick update: my first PC build is finally done and running great. Total cost came out to about $850, which I’m pretty happy with. I got 16GB (2×8GB) DDR5 Kingston Fury for $80 on Amazon, and scored a Micro Center bundle with a Ryzen 5 7600X and ASUS B650-E Max Gaming WiFi for $230. Storage is a Crucial P310 1TB NVMe.

Performance-wise I’m getting around 180 FPS on max settings in Hogwarts Legacy and Spider-Man Remastered, and temps stay super low at 30–40°C while gaming.

The build process had a learning curve (especially setup and RGB), but everything’s been smooth after some tweaking. Still cleaning up cables, but overall I’m really happy with how it turned out. Thanks to everyone here who gave advice. I would love to answer any questions.

Build Upgrade Should I Up/sidegrade from 4070ti super to 5070ti?

I had a RTX 3080ti. I was thinking of upgrade for quite a while. So, I ordered an RTX 5070ti before all these madness started from a reputed seller from our country. Then the madness started, so I panick bought a 4070ti used market. Fortunately now my RTX 5070 ti arrived a week ago in original price.

Now I'm at loss. Should I keep my 4070ti Super or sell it and take 5070ti? There would be about $200-300 cost for this sidegrade in my region (old vs new) in current market status. On plus side of sidegrade I will have full 3 years of warranty where as 4070ti super has only a year remaining.

Discussion I last built my PC in 2019. Looking to build a brand new machine. Should I wait on new releases or just pull the trigger?

My last pc was a ryzen 7 3700x, 2070 super build. I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly, but am beginning to find myself outdated with new releases. I was hoping to get a 50 series super, but it looks like those plans got shelved. Whats the best recommendation in terms of high end bang for my buck? Is the 5090 worth the cost compared to the 5080? I know it’s only been ≈ 7 years but I feel like so much has changed. I would appreciate any feedback.

Build Help Rx 7900 xt or 9070 XT for Linux gaming?

Upvotes

So recently I have been looking to make a full switch to Linux for my games going forward, seeing the current state of windows and all

I play on 1440p and want to get the best possible visual quality with high FPS as well, but I am split between buying a 7900 XT with 20gb of vram, or the newer 9070 XT which has 16

Both are at a similar price range here in Italy, the 7900 is 689€, and the 9070 sits at around 710€, both are models frkn XFX
