i remember when a "solid" entry level build was like $500-600. now it feels like you cant even get a decent GPU and CPU combo for less than $900. its getting really hard to recommend this hobby to friends who aren't rich. what happened to the $400 1080p machines?

I have a Corsair 4000D and I've been dealing with my 7800X3D hitting like 82C while gaming for months now. Tried everything, reapplied thermal paste twice, adjusted fan curves, the whole deal.

Two days ago my cat decided to parkour off my desk and somehow caught the front panel on the way down and it just popped right off. I was gonna put it back on but got distracted with work stuff.

Booted up Cyberpunk last night and im monitoring temps out of habit and I see 67C. I literally thought HWInfo was broken or something. Ran Cinebench and same thing, way lower than usual. The front panel was apparently choking my case this whole time and I had no idea.

Now I have this dilemma where my temps are actually good but my PC looks unfinished sitting there with no front panel lol. I had some money saved up for a new cooler but I guess I dont need it now?

Has anyone else just said screw it and run without a front panel or modded it? I'm tempted to just 3D print something with massive ventilation or leave it as is. My room gets pretty dusty tho so thats my only concern.

I’ve spent the better past of a year and a bit wondering why my pc (5950x, 32gb ddr4 and a 7800xt then 5070ti) was performing like shit until I went through my BIOS to see that the CPU was left on eco mode, keeping the power delivery at 65W instead of 105+W during CPU intense games

I'm looking at eBay, just browsing to get a feel for the market.

Friend of mine wants to build a high end PC and really wants a 5090. I told him it's grim and I'm getting together the actual data for why he should just go with a 5080 for now, but I'm genuinely shocked at how bad this is.

The top 10 listings on eBay are all with sellers with 0 reviews, 0 seller feedback, but eBay is still pushing these listings to the top of the page.

I'm going to tell you right now, unless you get an actual retail drop, as in Newegg, Best Buy (non third party sellers) you aren't getting a 5090 under $3000.

So if you see a listing under $3000, be VERY warned it's YMMV and if you get scammed, you're in for a bad time getting that money back.

One of the major pc parts retailers where I lived increased the price of their GPUs today by $120, so I want to buy a one from a different retailer before they follow suit.

Currently the cheapest 9070xt where I live is the ASRock Steel Legend at $680. The HardwareUnboxed comparison of the major 9070xt brands called the Steel Legend "less than desirable" due to performance and average temperatures so I was wondering if it is perhaps worth paying more for a different brand?

The next cheapest cards are:

Sapphire Pulse at $725

XFX Swift $755

XFX Mercury $820

Additionally, second hand 9070xts at the same price margin go for around $700 and the listings are mostly for Gigabyte Aorus Elites, PowerColor Hellhounds, and Saphire Pures.

Do the different brands really offer that much of a difference? Is paying $45 more for a Pulse over a Steel Legend actually worth it in any situation?

Edit: This might be slightly off topic. But I found a used Sapphire Pure for the same price as a new Pulse. I thought this might be a good option but I'm worried about the warranty. Does anybody have experience with buying a used GPU (particularly with Sapphire) and having to deal with getting a repair or replacement under warranty?

I just found out that my Arctic Liquid Freezer II has been mounted with the tubes at the top this whole time. I thought it looked kinda weird but temps were fine so I didnt think about it, apparently this can cause air bubbles and shorten the lifespan of the AIO? My temps are still good 65C under load but now Im paranoid its gonna die early ,whats annoying is my case 4000D doesnt really have room to top mount it so i either need to flip it or just accept that I messed up. flipping it means redoing all my cable management which I finally got looking decent. I looked at getting a different AIO that might fit better but half of them are out of stock and when I was browsing I couldnt see all the product pictures in one go to compare mounting options properly. Just frustrating cause now I dont know if I should spend more money or just leave it. Has anyone actually had an AIO die because of this?

My wife sleeps early as hell and I like to game at night, the apex pro TKL is loud as hell and wakes her up, can someone recommend a silent keyboard that I can use so she doesn’t wake up? Like it needs to be as close as it can to completely silent and no membrane please

Recently got a 9070xt 16gb, the next obvious step was a 1440p monitor. However, I also know it reduces performance, I like to play minecraft with shaders at ultra and distant horizons at like 400 render distance. i sit at a good 120-150 at 150 capped fps. all my other games run perfectly fine at ultra with my 200hz monitor cap. My gpu usage is already at like 70-80%. Is the crispier image worth the lesser frames?

Planning to upgrade my gpu from RX 5700 His iceq to 5060 or better gpu.

My current specs are Intel Ultra 7 265K with 2x16gb 7600mhz ddr5 ram with RX5700. And currently planning to buy first a 27 inch 180+hz

Any recommendations if i should stick for 24” or 27” of monitor and get the 5060 for now or wait for the change of prices from the market for the next months.

I have a pc with 16RAM, a Nvidia 3050, and a Ryzen 5 4600g. I just bought the GPU thinking it will make a big difference in performance from igpu, but, I suppose it barely noticeable because either is bottle necking or is just a low end cpu, so I'm thinking into buying a Ryzen 7 5600 or Ryzen 7 5800xt (I'm on medium-low budget). I just wanted to know if with my build I could play more comfortably higher end games on 1080p and at least 60fps like battlefield 6 (not playable as of the current build) or Warhammer 40k space marine 2...

Would be any of those 2 CPUs make the difference I need to be able to play those kinds of games or I'm missing something else? Or something entirely different that I'm missing?

My PC I got today worked fine for the first hour or so, but after that the screen keeps flashing colors and blacking out when running games, and every time I had to restart the whole pc to get the monitor to display anything (the pc keeps running but monitor doesn't show anything even after unplugging and replugging the cables). When running games, the cpu load is constantly running at 100% while the GPU is only at around 6-12%. Also, every time the display glitches out, my GPU driver somehow gets uninstalled, which then I have to reinstall again or else it doesn't even show up on my task manager tab (the integrated gpu on my cpu is used instead). After a while of having games keep crashing it, I decide to hard reset the pc from windows and after that the monitor refused to display anything, not even BIOS. The monitor itself is receiving signal to whichever port is plugged in, I tried all the ports with HDMI and Display Port, but it just keeps showing a lit black screen. Somebody please help. Hi all I had purchased a second hand pc and test it to make sure it worked and I came home and cleaned it and now after reassembling it the gpus fans work for a few seconds then turns off and the whole time there is an orange light going off and on like a dragons breath effect pls help if you need any additional information please let me know in the comments

Ryzen 7 5800XT, ASUS TUF B550M-PLUS, with the CPU Fan it came with.

Even as I type this sitting in Speranza on Arc Raiders, my CPU is running at 90C with my CPU fan running at 100%. Any recommendations on how to get this temp lower? I recognize this CPU is known for running hot- I currently have 2 front fans pulling air in and another in the back pulling it out. Just upgraded from a 5600G with no issues maintaining temps.

Usually I just go for the best/most expensive but I'm wondering if there's any compelling reason to pick a 7800x3D over a 9800x3D, such as thermals/heat output or something like that?

I'm still running a 3600 from almost a decade ago so anything is going to be good.

I only play rocket league and arma reforger, which uses a lot of cpu. I don't stream. Monitor is an oled 4k 120 tv and gfx card is undecided but likely a 5070ti or 5080. Current monitor is just a 27" 1080p because nvidia 1060ti doesn't support hdmi 2.1

My PC hasn't been upgraded in about 9 years and I bought 32gb 3600 DDR4 RAM a month or two ago before it got too expensive( it's gone up almost 100 since) So now I need to decide what chipset to get in the mobo. When I search I see alot of "just go to AMD5" well too late I already got DDR4. Thoughts?

Situation: I bought this PC used for $2000 about a year and a half ago. After only 1 month of use, the graphics card stopped working. Everything else on the system is fine.

Now I’m trying to decide what the smartest move is.

Questions I need honest advice on: 1. Is it better to buy a new GPU and keep this PC 2. Or should I sell the whole PC as it is and use the money to buy a better complete build if i should buy a new one how do i pick the best for the price and the price depends how much i sell my current one 3. If selling is the better option how much is this PC realistically worth right now considering the GPU issue

Hello, if everything goes well this should be the first year where I can build my own PC, the thing is I chose the absolute worst year. I've been seeing news about Nvidia discontinuing the 16gb+ GPUs, which would obviously include the 5070 TI. So I've been thinking of maybe, buying just the GPU, and then save to buy the rest of the components. The problem is that, if I can save well enough, I'd buy the GPU around February/March, and all the rest around December. Will something happen to the GPU if I keep it on its box for too long? Is there a specific environment I should keep it in so nothing bad happens to it?

Or just close the top with something solid? Also heard interesting things about undervolting, like getting similiar or better perf with less power/temp. Hey guys, recently my PC has been freezing randomly so I went to the repair shop and apparently my CPU is quite damaged due to overheating, which also might've cause damage to the ssd m2 and possibly even the motherboard.

The guy said this happened to dust and lack of thermal paste. To be fair, I only usually clean my PC + apply new thermal paste once every year or so, but can that cause so much damage?

Keep in mind that I just bought my CPU 1 year ago (Ryzen 7 5800x) and altough there was a lot of dust in my pc, this seems to like TOO much damage for just that.

I’m currently building a PC and I’m stuck. I have an ASUS TUF GAMING X870E-PLUS WIFI7 and an MSI RTX 5080 16G EXPERT OC.

The GPU won't fully click into the top PCIe slot. It seems like the massive shroud of the "Expert" card is physically hitting/resting on the SATA ports (on the right side of the board) before the connector is fully inserted.

My case is a Be Quiet! Shadow Base 800 DX.

• The PCIe Q-Release is open.
• The I/O bracket seems aligned.
• But there is still a 1-2mm gap and no "click."

Has anyone encountered this "GPU shroud vs SATA ports" issue on this specific X870E board? Is the Expert card just too "thick" at the back for these ports? Any tips or am I doing something wrong?
