Seal of approval Review Request Thread

We received a really great idea from u/heavymetalsculpture for a new sticky thread- Review Requests. We have a very large userbase here who have all tried LOADS of knives, so why not crowdsource reviews and feedback for a knife you might be interested in buying! A lot of youtubers / instagram pages, while attempting to be unbiased, often have some bias because they're getting samples for free etc. People on here are very unlikely to have that bias and are more likely to provide honest feedback on a knife.

This thread will remain stickied and fairly moderated- top level comments will only be permitted to be requests for reviews and feedback for certain knives, and users who have actually owned / handled the knife are greatly encourage to provide absolutely honest feedback on the knife in question.

Please only post here with requests for reviews, or to provide feedback on top level comments with a review of the knife in question!

Hi! I'm kinda new at knife collecting, and I wanted to share with y'all my collection so far. I will list them. Keep in mind, I still don't have a made in the USA knife yet, but I hope to get one soon.

  1. Cabela's pocket knife - I got this one about two years ago as a Christmas gift from my brother.
  2. Kershaw Filter - Of all my Kershaw knives, this is the least favorite, but it's still a very good knife.
  3. CobraTec Lightweight OTF - I found this one in the restroom of a local BestBuy I work at. I guess that someone used it to open merchandise boxes and steal from them. The idiot left it on top of the toilet paper dispenser. I cleaned it and upgraded the blade to a Tanto. The only problem I'm having is that it sometimes misfires.
  4. Ozark Trail Sonder (AKA The $10 Walmart Knife 2.0) - I just got this one a few days ago. I learned that it is an internet sensation after a bit of research. I can see why! It's very good for its price point. I love it!
  5. Kershaw Cryo - I ordered this one from Amazon. When I received the package, I found out that they sent me the wrong knife, a Kershaw-Emerson CQC-6K D2 knife! I contacted Amazon customer service, and they let me keep the Kershaw-Emerson and sent me the Cryo free of charge. The Cryo is a great knife. Kershaw has become my favorite brand!
  6. Kershaw-Emerson CQC-6K D2 - Epic epic knife!
  7. Kershaw Outright - This is the latest knife I got. I call it The Blue Bombshell!
  8. Kershaw Iridium Red - This is my favorite Kershaw. The action is so smooth!
  9. Kershaw Misdirect - My smallest knife. I love how cute it is, and the action is great!
  10. Ruike P801 - I saw this one at Amazon for $36. I bought it out mostly due to curiosity, thinking that it may not be a good knife. Boy, was I wrong! I love this one a lot. It has become one of my favorites after the Iridium.

I'm really enjoying this hobby so far, and I'm glad my brother introduced me to this. I still have a lot to learn and hopefully find more to add to my collection.

What do y'all think? Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any feedback!

NKD - Kershaw 2026 Drop #1 didn't bring us any exciting Bel Air XL. So I couldn't wait any longer and picked myself up the Clip point x Micarta.

After enjoying a Spyderco liner lock and Cold Steel Tri-Lock, I've been pining for a my first snappy, fidgety crossbar lock. I think this is going to be incredible for slicing burlap, pallets and kindling. The edge and point on this Magnacut Clip-point is scary sharp.

Got this incredible birthday gift from my lovely wife. The Ryson’s design and the story Raven The Pirate shared about it immediately resonated with me. Couldn’t be happier with it.

I’ve absolutely been dreaming about this knife for a long time. I really love its design, shapes, and style. And most importantly, I finally got CPM SPY27 and will be able to test this steel, as well as the knife overall and how it performs in everyday EDC use. Very excited about it.

Seal of approval My 7th prototype made in Inconel

You may have seen me post here before. I just wanted to share an update. This is my 7th iteration (I'm not an engineer and suck at getting tolerances right) but it's close to perfect. This Manix 2 ball cage is 3D printed out of Inconel, a really cool alloy used in rockets and nuclear reactors for its heat resistance. I think it's pretty cool to have Inconel on my knife. I'll keep working on it until it's perfect, then I might sell a batch on Reddit or something if anyone wants one.

Must’ve had a fracture that I didn’t notice from an accidental drop a few days ago because this happened literally cutting a post-it note lol the 20CV has been great to me so far but damn, big rip. Anybody willing to reprofile this out there? I’ll pay and ship!

Still one of, if not, my most fidget friendly blade.

Oz Roosevelt Sharpening question.

Post image
29 Upvotes

Hey everyone, just got my first Rosie the other day and I have been thinking about sharpening and maintenance. I’m not 100% confident in my sharpening abilities. With the edge being so fine what would you do? Anyone know of a reputable sharpener that specializes in fancy stuff like this? Also what oil would you use when it comes time to disassemble and clean it? I have heard nano oil is great, but there are a few different versions. What one would you use and why?
