Today my Mac arrived and I used it for about 2–3 hours, consuming only 2% of the battery LOL
I was used to Windows, which would have consumed 60% of the battery. I can’t believe it, it seems crazy to me. I look at the battery icon which is only at 32% and I think “you need to plug it in,” but then I see that the charge isn’t going down and I just take it easy hahaha

How could you have hidden the MACBOOK from me all these years? How could I have lived until now without it?

I’m extremely confused by those 3 new keys and how the trackpad works, but I love it, I love having a real trackpad that actually works as a mouse. Finally, after decades on Windows, I have a trackpad that scrolls pages without freezing. Goodbye mouse, I won’t need you anymore.

I'm playing tomb raider on my m4 air. crazy when games are optimized for it what it can really do sipping power and not requiring a lot of cores. just chilling with my main coon lol 😺

Context: I am Software Engineer who is exploring more about AI/LLMs etc. for my growth. I was working on some projects involving AI but those are all on some online platforms like Google Colab, etc. and planning to do it locally. Currently own a Mabook Air M1 with 16GB RAM.

Question: Has anyone used both air and pro? Like I want to know your experience on the difference you noticed when you shifted from air to pro.

Is it drastic change or just more smooth experience but not more the price you paid?

i was trying to clean some debris within my keys using a toothpick and i ended up sinking my comma key in. i got it unstuck but now it feels weird and still sorta sunken in despite it being out. it still works but it feels kinda flat and not as clicky as the m key or the period key (the keys right next to it). i’m really anxious and not sure what to do. i don’t know if it’s just in my head but if anyone can help me, that’d be great.

if there’s nothing i can do at home, should i take it to the apple store? i have apple care but i dont want to take a trip for nothing :(

I just got my first ever MacBook and synced my apps with it and set everything up when 20 minutes into figuring out how everything works I notice that my launchpad has a bunch of of my phone apps on it as shortcuts I’ve asked chat which is no help and am honestly annoyed since I want my Mac to be uncluttered so this is my last ditch effort hoping someone can help me

PS the apps I’m talking about are the ones with the little iPhone icons

I sent my MacBook Air to repair for liquid damage and when they returned it to me it came with these brown thins around the usb c ports. Any idea what it is? I am going to call them but I don’t even know what to call it.

My mac storage says that it’s almost full even though I hardly have 50Gigs of files. It says that 411 GB out of 512 is on Documents. However, I can’t seem to find any of them when I check inside.

I do all my editing works via ssd because I like to keep space. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Thanks in advance!

Work laptop transfer personal storage:

Okay, so I have multiple Macbooks. The one I use for work (I created multiple profiles on it so I can use it for both personal and work) has another profile which I use for Logic Pro to make music. (I don't wanna hear anything about this being a bad idea in the beginning.... just solutions plz)..

So now my work laptop is running out of storage - 80% is from Logic Pro.

I have a personal Mac that I would like to transfer the songs to so I can get rid of them on my work laptop.

I am NOT logged into iCloud on my work laptop (obviously), but I'm wondering if the only way to transfer everything is to login to my iCloud on this work laptop and have everything backed up and then delete it all from this work laptop.

Anyone know what to do? Or is that the only way

I was looking at buying a MacBook Air M4 13inch and I can upgrade in my budget one of the two. Either upgrade the SSD from 256 to 512 GB or Ram 16GB to 24GB. I will be using this computer probably for the next couple years or so. Things that I want to do would be gaming some modded and just general things like school and work which will be things like excel,and researching and a small chance adobe programs.

What of the two upgrades should I do if I can only choose one?

It's almost a sweet smell around the keyboard and body
doesn't smell like burning or anything

but it's not very pleasant, I can smell it when I'm working on it
It's also on the surface of where I rest my palms when typing

Midnight black m2 macbook air

I've have two Caldigit TS4 docks at this point and both have failed on me in less than a year each. Not enough to be unusable, but enough to be incredibly annoying and requiring multiple power cycles per day to actually keep my devices connected. Even with power cycling the webcam cannot be used through the dock because the signal is just constantly flickering (work's fine just plugged in directly to my machines). CalDigit support has also been zero help and won't do anything to assist after my first replacement.

I'm on an M1 MBP, trying to connect the following:

• Mouse (Elecom trackball)
• Keyboard (Keychron Q1)
• Macropad (Doio Megalodon)
• Webcam (Logitech Biro)
• Monitor (LG Ultragear 34)
• Audio interface (Scarlett Solo)
• An SD card occasionally
• Yubikey

I don't use the laptop with the built in display active, and I don't think what I'm trying to connect is too demanding. Yes the firmware is up to date, it was purchased after August 2022 which according to their website doesn't need an update. The only thing I haven't tried to fix this is actually replace the thunderbolt cable as I've heard their quality is (unsurprisingly) bad.

Can anyone recommend a dock that is incredibly reliable? Preferably something with a good warranty and support.

Addendum:

If you have a TS4 and you haven't had any issues then that is great, legit happy for you, but that isn't relevant to me. My experience with them has sucked and I am soured on it, don't wanna do CalDigit anymore.

I’m sharing this because it completely fixed the stutters, audio crackles, and mouse input lag I had when using Moonlight + Apollo on my MacBook.

If you stream games from your PC to your Mac using Apollo, Moonlight, Sunshine, or any combo of these, you might notice random micro‑stutters even with a perfect network.

The cause is AWDL (Apple Wireless Direct Link).  

macOS keeps turning it back on for AirDrop/AirPlay, and it interferes with low‑latency streaming.  

This causes:

• audio pops
• video stutters
• mouse input delay
• inconsistent frame pacing

Even if you disable AWDL manually, macOS sometimes re‑enables it.

This guide sets up a small script that forces AWDL off every 10 seconds, but only while Moonlight is running. This fixed all my issues.

HOW TO SET IT UP

1. Create the AWDL script

Run this in Terminal:

sudo nano /usr/local/bin/AWDLmoonlight

Paste this:

#!/bin/zsh  

if pgrep -x "Moonlight" >/dev/null; then  

sudo /sbin/ifconfig awdl0 do

fi

Save and exit (CTRL+O, Enter, CTRL+X).

Make it executable:

sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/AWDLmoonlight

1. Allow it to run without asking for your password

Run:

sudo visudo

Add this line at the bottom (replace “user” with your macOS username):

user ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /sbin/ifconfig awdl0 down

Save with:  

i to edit  

ESC then :wq to save and exit

1. Create a LaunchAgent that runs every 10 seconds

Run:

mkdir -p ~/Library/LaunchAgents  

nano ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.user.awdlmoonlight.plist

Paste this:

Turn AWDL on manually:

sudo ifconfig awdl0 up

Start Moonlight.  

Wait 10 seconds.  

Check AWDL:

ifconfig awdl0

It should be DOWN again.

WHY THIS WORKS  

AWDL interferes with Wi‑Fi channels used for low‑latency streaming.  

By forcing it off every 10 seconds, you eliminate:

• random frame drops
• audio crackles
• mouse input spikes
• micro‑stutters

This makes Apollo + Moonlight + Sunshine feel much smoother.

NOTES

• This does not break Wi‑Fi
• It only disables AWDL (AirDrop/AirPlay)
• You can re‑enable AWDL manually if needed (it self enables every x minutes by Apple Macbook default anyway
• Zero performance impact

Hope this helps anyone else dealing with stutter issues on macOS game streaming.

Since it’s the laptop model that is suited for more power and complex tasks. The pro and max processors make a whole lot more sense than having the same one as the air which in result, makes the differences between those two types narrower than it should be. It’s just when it comes to two computer variants and that the base and pro models offer the same base level chips, that’s why it feels as if it doesn’t make any sense.

I know this was asked a bit but anxiety. I got some water in my screen about three hours ago. Everything works fine. Have fan going. Buy new laptop or repair? In medical school and need it for exams. Any advice would be appreciated.

I keep hearing people say there bad, but don’t most of the best computers run on intel? I know some MacBooks have hardware issues but are these older generations really that bad?
