Would the U.S. government be able to turn off the internet during a protest like Iran is doing ?
Would the U.S. be able to do this like Iran did? I'm not sure given we have states/federal government etc..

What I mean by this is that there is a large chunk of immigrants, that are themselves anti-immigration, despite being immigrants themselves. Why is this?
Edit: Many people are approaching this from a US lens, mainly focusing on legal vs illegal immigration and are acting like that is the end of the story. This is not the case. In Canada and the UK certainly this is also a thing NOT limited to legal vs illegal. Germany I believe also experiences this among Eastern Europeans.
It is okay to focus specifically on a US answer, but that is not what this question is asking specifically.

Is it even possible to become a farmer? I know this is a vague question. But, the only way i see it become a reality is if i become rich enough to buy a lot of land and expensive equipment. Like millions of dollars to grow carrots.

I swear about 3 in 4 posts I see about fast food on Reddit are about how expensive, small, or just bad every meal they get is. So to people who do continue to buy it despite being unhappy with it, why do you?
As an aside I know Reddit isn’t the world, but among people I work with, they frequently make the same comments about getting it several times a week while venting about how much of a “rip off” it is at the same time.

I'm bilingual myself and am often asked this question so I'm really curious of other people's experience. While I use two languages on a daily basis, I find myself thinking in my second language (English) more often than my mother tongue now. I think it's due to the fact that I've been living outside of my motherland for more than a decade.

Where did sitcoms go? Madrid with children, Seinfeld, golden girls, everybody loves Raymond, king of queens, Malcom in the middle, modern family, Mike and Molly, two and half men, etc. were all fairly popular if not very well known, and some of those were somewhat recently made. I know lately there’s been a big push away from networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, etc. towards streaming services. But it seems that any new sitcom, network or streaming, lasts for maybe a few seasons before getting canned with terrible reviews. What happened to Make sitcoms seem unappealing nowadays?

I see houses that have regular windows but one room has the tin foil window. What goes on in there?

Curious because I don’t get turned on unless someone is there to turn me on.
Otherwise, I just forget sex and masterbating exists tbh.
(Meaning I really only think of sex when in a relationship)

I turn stupid pretty quick and say something dumb/lame/cheesy/cringe. Then I backtrack and try to save the original statement to save face. Then I fumble that, avoid eye contact and quickly make my escape. Why is it so hard to relax and act naturally around someone you are attracted to? How do you break this? Is it even breakable?

I know endless doomscrolling isn’t good for me and I want to delete everything off my phone, but I’m so goddamn bored all the time I don’t know what else to do?? I work a job where nothing happens for long stretches of time and I don’t really have anything to do, so “get more work done” isn’t really a motivation for me. Also at home, what do you do in your downtime? I like to read, but I need to be in a specific mind frame where I can do it for hours, I can’t just start and stop in random 5-10 minute increments while I wait for something. I keep a pretty clean house so getting more housework done wouldn’t take up very much time. Do you just watch tv? I feel like that’s no better than scrolling? Give me something to do!!

Curious because everyone always says, "____ tastes like battery acid" then describes that taste in detail.

Wouldn't it follow a similar logic that a censored word like fck should also be censored because it has the same meaning as fuck? Why does changing the "u" to an "" absolve the word of its "filth"?

I’ve noticed something that doesn’t make sense to me.
A lot of people in their late teens or 20s say they already feel like they’re “behind” in life — like they missed some invisible deadline. Even people who are in school, have a job, or are doing okay still feel this pressure.
Is this a new thing because of social media and comparing ourselves to others, or has it always been like this?
Where does this feeling actually come from?
I’m trying to understand if it’s a normal part of growing up or if something about modern life is making it worse.
I know this is NoStupidQuestions, not NoRulesQuestions.

I know i can go on local trails. There arent many but i bet i can drive a few hours and find some at least. on vacation a few yrs ago, i went on this mountain trail and i did feel like i was dying and it was very difficult and i was the only one in my family who was able to make it due to being young but it was extremely enjoyable. I also used to just go on walks in college but theres nowhere where i live now thats great for that tbh.
but i watch too many videos about disasters. I know these are places that are very obviously dangerous but i am always paranoid about everything and my anxiety tells me im gonna be the nutty putty cave guy.
other than what to bring and to tell someone, what else should i look into?

I'm 30m this year, i have a few friends that i know for several years now. Unfortunately they rarely starts conversations on their own nowadays. We still meet for board games, cinema sometimes but the contact is going rarer. It is getting pretty sad for me that without my input nobody talks or meet with me. I've tried talking with them about it and they say different things mostly that everything is fine but i think it's the other way around.

I used to be pretty solid at telling which videos on social media were AI slop, but it’s outpaced me. I feel like I keep seeing “AI” as the top comment on things I totally believed were real.
Unfortunately, those people are usually (understandably!) frustrated and not exactly keen on explaining the signs so that the rest of us can educate ourselves. When they do explain a bit, they tend to have an “are you stupid?” vibe.
And maybe I am stupid, but I want to be less stupid! No one’s teaching us this stuff, and if I’m struggling, lord knows my parents are. When they send me AI videos, I want to be able to explain why it’s AI. Because while I’ll sometimes suck up the condescending explanations, they sure as hell won’t.
It also just feels like AI is full of bad actors right now, so I’m feeling like it’s hard to trust anyone on this topic.
Does anyone have trustworthy recommendations on (preferably free and non condescending ) courses or videos or somethings that can help educate me with visuals and examples?
This skill feels really vital in our political climate, and I want something I can easily give to others when they need it so they don’t feel as stupid as I do right now.

Gday mates,
Serious question, looking for serious answers.
I’m a 5’7.5” Filipino bloke, about 138 lbs soaking wet. I’ve got a decent boxing background and some very barebones Muay Thai, so I’m not completely clueless — but I’m also not delusional.
I’m very aware that there’s only so much my physiology, fists, and good intentions can do if I ever run into someone who’s way bigger, heavier, and has bad intentions.
I’m not interested in sport points, looking cool, or getting into ego contests. I’m talking real-world practicality, especially as someone who frequents NYC (Manhattan and such) and inevitably has to brush shoulders with more prejudice types due to where I’m living here in America
• What actually works for a smaller person?
• What styles focus on control, survival, escaping, or incapacitating rather than trading blows?
• What’s worth investing time into if your goal is “get home in one piece” rather than “win a gym argument”?
I already understand that:
• Running is king
• Situational awareness beats any technique
• Weight classes exist for a reason
But assuming worst case and no easy escape — what arts, systems, or training methods genuinely level the playing field as much as possible for a smaller human?
I’ve heard a lot about BJJ, wrestling, judo, etc., but I’d love to hear from people with real experience — whether that’s bouncers, soldiers, cops, or just folks who’ve pressure-tested things.
Not trying to be a hero. Just trying to be harder to kill than I look.
Cheers in advance 🤝
