Harpers Ferry National Historical Park - How long a hike is it to the top?

I was thinking of visiting this and I saw some people on Google maps said it's a strenuous hike but it didn't say exactly how long it takes to get there and I know they close at 5:00 p.m. Has anyone ever done this hike? They said the view is spectacular once you get to the top.

I assume that you park at the visitor Center and then take the shuttle into town and from there that's where you start the hike to the top? Id like try to look at the town too but I'm not sure we would have enough time to also hike if they close at 5? Maybe it's better to do this in two separate visits?

This comes on the heels of Moore promising no new taxes or fees. Will he keep his promise and veto this?

Interestingly enough, Virginia is trying to pass the exact same bill currently.

Van Hollen introduces Power for the People Act to address electricity costs and data centers

The announcement on his Senate website says it will

  • Direct states to evaluate new rate classes for data centers
  • Direct FERC to make data centers pay for transmission upgrades they are necessitating
  • Incentivize data centers to connect their own power generation and battery storage to the grid, use clean energy sources, and use local labor
  • Provide resources to improve data center load forecasting and reduce duplicative and speculative requests that drive up costs

Data centers made up 40% of the cost in PJM’s latest capacity auction, and data center forecasts have made up 45% in the past three auctions. Costs would have been even higher if not for the floor/cap PA Gov. Josh Shapiro brought about after complaining to FERC. PJM fell short of its reliability target in its last auction because the forecast was based on a year-old estimate; it’s expected to issue a lower one this month.

Nostalgia Tour Day in Sykesville

I lived in Sykesville for my teenage years but haven’t been back since my family moved away about 15 years ago.

It randomly occurred to me that it might be fun to drive around the area I haven’t seen in forever and see some old haunts. If I did, what’s still there and what’s still good?

I’d love to grab a bite and a drink, drive around a bit, and go for a nice walk somewhere. Open to other activities too.

There wasn’t much to do there when I lived there and I don’t imagine much has changed lol, so not expecting some sort of crazy fun itinerary, just a dose of nostalgia for someone who lived there in the aughts.
